Obama Administration Seeks $58M To Put (Partly) Toward Fighting Ebola

The Associated Press reports (here, as carried by the Washington Times) that The White House is asking Congress for $58 million above current levels to speed the production of promising drugs to fight Ebola and additional flexibility for the Department of Homeland Security to cope with the thousands of unaccompanied Central American children still arriving at the southern border. ... [T]he $58 million request for the Centers for Disease Control would help the agency ramp up production and testing of the experimental drug called ZMapp, which has shown promise in fighting the Ebola epidemic in western Africa. It would also help keep the development and manufacturing of two Ebola vaccines on track. The White House request also seeks to use $10 million in unused balances at the Department of Health and Human Services to help with the Ebola outbreak in Africa. The scarcity of ZMapp, the most promising treatment known for Ebola, is such that the third U.S. doctor to have been returned after being infected by the disease will be treated without it.

Why are we bringing people infected with a virulent disease that has no real cure back to this country? Send doctors in a cargo plane with the needed equipment and to the patients there. Then quarantine the personnel and the patients for a minimum time before releasing to be sure it hasn't spread.

Moving infected people around is a mistake.

The best way to fight Ebola is to isolate it. All travel in and out of Africa needs to be monitored. And anyone, anyone, entering into the United States who has been to Africa or has no proven point of origin needs to be screened. No exceptions.

Vacationing from Africa? Traveled there recently? Get screened at customs. Illegally crossing the border? Either get deported or get screened. Legally immigrating? Get screened.

Vulgar, but absolutely the truth. Voting demographics is completely controlling immigration policies. All other reasons are just concealing noise.

Okay, lets go ahead and spend money for research on this horrible disease, this is a very noble effort.

BUT not one dime from this emergency expenditure should be spent on the Obama regime's human trafficking scam, Congress has already wisely chosen NOT to fund this criminal activity. Read the article, the CDC is only asking for $30 million, but the Obama regime is demanding $58 million so they can use this medical "must pass" emergency measure to divert half of these funds to one of Obama's questionable pet projects. The money should be more properly be spent on keeping the illegals OUT!

I'm not for the Government doing this at all, but the reasons are fiscal and not emotional. Our national debt is massive and expanding due to all these great opportunities to piss away money we don't have.

How about normal fundraisers like we do for everything else? If people have it, they tend to give it if they believe the cause is good and the recipient is trustworthy (often even without a trusted recipient).
