Apple Sells More Than 10 Million New iPhones In First 3 Days

An anonymous reader writes Apple has announced that it sold over 10 million new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models, just three days after the launch on September 19. From the article: "Chief Executive Tim Cook said the company could have sold even more iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models if supplies had been available. Analysts had estimated first-weekend sales of up to 10 million iPhones, after Apple booked record pre-orders of 4 million on Sept. 12, the day pre-orders opened."

There are more Android devices to choose from. Choice is good for consumers, but means that individual models can't hit Apple's numbers.

Who cares anyway? This is a bizarre pissing contest if ever I saw one. Millions of people watch reality TV, that doesn't make it good.

I would say that most of the people I know use iPhones. I have never heard any one of those iPhone users judging an Android phone user as an inferior person, less successful, or not as hip. I have, however, consistently hear all the usual judgements from Android users against iPhones users: lemmings, idiots with too much money, Steve Jobs worshippers, etc.

That is true for the most part and going out on a limb here, the most obnoxiously judgemental computer users I meet are usualy Linux geeks. I have met very, very few OS X or Windows users who go out of their way to heap scorn on Linux users the way some Linux do about Windows and Mac users.

I am not sure if Apple is Like BMW with small memory, and storage, and screen resolution and battery..without features like waterproofing...maybe a smart car?

But one thing is for certain is that whatever make Apple is Android is Ferrari, Mercedes Benz, Ford Toyota, Royals Royce etc etc

I am an Android user, but I will say the iPhone isn't beats. It's actually a decent piece of hardware and software. I don't particularaly like iOS and will stick to my Android, but it's also not horrible and a lot of people develop for it. I'm also glad we have both options, plus Windows Mobile too. More options are better for the market and people who write apps for only one OS are idiots.

It's still half of beats though. There are a lot of people who buy eyeProducts because of the marketing. I liked OSX 10.6, but everything since than has been shit. Final Cut X is god awful. There are pros and cons to everything.

Are you kidding? The iPhone is a fashion accessory to many, and not having one is the equivalent of not wearing Prada when all the cool kids are. It's the hipster clique phone, for people who think different and are not part of the herd.

LOL, sorry, but no. The very original iPhone had some prestige factor to it, but they haven't been "fashion accessories" for a very long time. Prada wouldn't be Prada if you could buy it at Walmart. iPhones have been relatively cheap since the 3G version, and if you paid more for an expensive large capacity edition, there was no way for an onlooker to tell. Far, far, far too many people have iPhones for them to be considered any sort of status symbol. Your description, however, is possibly an Android user's perception of an iPhone user, and would neatly explain most of the unwarranted angst towards them.

Since Apple reports sales to end users, approximately 0 and 10,000,000, respectively.
