this is like the most prestigious post a female scientist has had, in the physical sciences. I knew one of the previous directors, and he was very laid back, I think she'll do fine.

Until your post I didn't knew which genitals the director of CERN will have, but now I know. Not that I cared or that it will give me some comfort to know such intimate details. I don't want to fuck with CERN's director, so its not important for me which sex they have. Stop creating weird pictures in my mind and polluting threads with your pseudo-feminist comments.

I mean, aren't we supposed to be running around in circles talking about how women aren't allowed to hold ranking positions in science and technology, and how we have to "encourage" them in to these fields?

Half of the comments on this page are already misogynistic remarks. I'll call the SJWs on their media whoring baloney in a heartbeat, but I think that as general attitudes toward women with STEM prestige go, the SJWs are correct. I don't think that the bias created by their anecdotal experiences of that attitude is a good thing, but it's clear that a random sample from Western civilization has a good chance of producing somebody with a caveman attitude about this kind of thing.

At this point though I honestly believe a huge chunk of misogyny is coming from trolls egged on by the SJW crowd and the attention they are getting.

Not saying these attitudes don't exist, just that right now any mention of women anywhere on the internet is going to get spammed with more "get back in the kitchen" garbage than usual, and I think drawing any conclusion from that (besides that trolls gonna troll) is not a great idea.

I sincerely hope that you're right about that. But either way, there is a big difference between institutionalized bigotry and trash talking. The sad part is that many of the trolls making up half the cyclic war of words are probably SJW bloggers or journalists just stirring the ant hill because the ants give them ad revenue.
