Ellen Pao Leaves Reddit; Site Founder Steve Huffman Makes a Triumphant Return

Deathspawner writes: To say that it's been a tumultuous month for reddit is an understatement. While multiple events have occurred in recent months that have caused an uproar, such as the banning of popular "hate" subreddits, nothing impacted the site quite like the out-of-nowhere firing of "Ask Me Anything" admin Victoria Taylor last week. Following that, other minor revelations surfaced, and finally, this past Monday, reddit CEO Ellen Pao came out from hiding to issue an apology. While her message instilled a bit more confidence in the future of the site, it wasn't enough. Today, it's been announced that Ellen Pao has left the company she joined last fall, and will be superseded by someone who knows what he's getting into: founder Steve Huffman.

Every time you read the words "politically correct" in a Friday Slashdot MRA clickbait comments section, everyone has to take a drink.

Because a subreddit like /r/coontown isn't about being offensive, it's just patriots exercising their free speech on a public forum. Damn those Reddit SJWs for violating their First Amendments and spoiling their totally not racist and offensive speeching.

I do find it really, really strange that the SJW side is backing Pao here when the employee she fired is also a woman.

citation needed on this one. where is the SJW side that is backing Pao? unless SJW stands for Strawman Justice Warrior.

For me, a "gay pride" flag is a symbol of hate and oppression. Hate that I am straight (different) and oppressive of my right to not be molested, if only visually, by gay people.

That SJW cunt needs to stay far away from modding/admin/running any forum.

she can stick to PETA forums where they all circle jerk and whine over cute kitties getting eaten by Koreans.

Now reddit can return to normal with it's founder.

I hope he bans all the throngs of SJW mongs

You have the backwards. Conservatism is driven by emotion. What's mine is mine, resistance to change, thinking you are an island independent of your neighbours. Socialism is the realization that we are better off working together and living in a fair society. It's the evolution from "might makes right" to a more enlightened political philosophy.

What you call "fair", others would call taking from the "rich" and giving to the "poor", which sounds great in theory, but in reality the "rich" aren't really the rich, they're usually the middle class, and the "poor" aren't really the poor, many are scamming the system and only appear poor on paper. Sure we can hire a bunch of people to investigate everyone's lives and make sure the actual rich are only the ones paying more and only the actual poor are the only ones receiving benefits, but that's just more big govt bureaucracy. If you **really** want to be fair, you'll let the people that worked hard to be middle class remain middle class and let them keep their money, and the people that are actually poor can receive benefits from soup kitchens and churches like they have been for thousands of years without government interference.
