A.I. Startups Building Bots For Businesses (xconomy.com)
gthuang88 writes: Virtual digital assistants are gaining popularity with the rise of Siri, Google Now, and Facebook's M service. Now startups are using related artificial intelligence techniques to solve business problems. Talla is building an interactive bot on Slack and HipChat for handling workflows in recruiting and human resources. The software uses natural language processing, word vectors, and some deep learning. Other startups, such as Gamalon, DataRobot, and Sentenai, are focused on probabilistic programming, data science, and machine learning for the Internet of things. Working with private data sets and business apps could help these startups avoid competing with the big players, at least for now.
Talla. Slack. HipChat. You need an ironic beard to work at these places.
Who is this Al guy you're always talking about? Is he a friend of this Ben Gozzi guy that's always in the news?
It's probably just the recently unemployed AIs from Ashley Madison applying for new positions.
Don't waste your vote! Vote for whoever you want, unless you live in a swing state it won't matter anyways
I was promised sex bots for the future, where the hell are they? It's 2016!
That's it. My next resume is just going to read:
$this_person + $your_busuness = $WIN
if ($WIN) then
$company_dollars = $company_dollars + 1000000000000
end
Laws are rules for the court, but merely a bottom bar to hit for life. Think beyond laws in your actions always.
Clippy.
Seriously, people keep comparing "cutting edge" A.I. against Siri. Siri's just not that smart.
Siri certainly doesn't have a great ability to interpret user's speech. e.g.: "How do I (get|drive|cycle|walk) to ", assuming she even figures out that should be on the same continent as you, will always open Navigation with a driving route.
And something common in young people... "X O X O X O X" gets transcribed as "socks socks socks socks". Go figure!
Soon their recruitment bot will recruit my jobseeking bots.
Neither is anything.
"A.I." means lookup tables now just like "nanotechnology" ended up being little bits of powder in toothpaste.
The cynicism expressed in the title of my post not withstanding, if AI can replace all the HR drones out there, fantastic! On the other hand, I'll never get a job again.
Lync, autoattendant.. or something like thzat..
this is not new.. I am curious to understand why these companies cant develop their own robots.. its their tech, right..
