Verizon's Mobile Video Won't Count Against Data Caps -- but Netflix Will (arstechnica.com)
Earthquake Retrofit writes: Ars Technica has a story about how Verizon Wireless is testing the limits of the Federal Communications Commission's net neutrality rules; Verizon has announced that it will exempt its own video service from mobile data caps—while counting data from competitors such as YouTube and Netflix against customers' caps.
While, I'm not a fan of data limits, the fact is that they own the network, they should be able to decide which data counts and which data doesn't count towards their stupid limits. If they get too heavy handed with it, people will bail. There is no reason the government should mandate stuff like this, the market will weed out the assholes because people will not put up with it. This is another example of the government inserting its nose where it does not have any business doing so.
