Facebook Rolls Out Major Live Video Update (usatoday.com)
An anonymous reader writes: Facebook Live was launched last year, allowing public figures and celebrities to live stream to their timeline. Today, Facebook has released a host of new features to its live broadcasting tool, which lets anyone post live streams of themselves to their timeline. Not only can users add filters to their videos, but they can also draw and add doodles as well. "Live Reactions" lets people react in a similar way to live videos as they do to posts, and it will also allow people to replay the comments they receive during their stream. The site has also added new ways of finding videos, either by location or by inviting friends. It also features a new button for people to ask their friends to watch a live video alongside them, for example. The live streaming features are limited to people in the U.S. right now, with new features rolling out to iOS and Android devices "in the coming weeks," the company said.

And at the top of the press release there is a video. Guess what service they used to publish the video? Yes, it was vimeo, not the facebook video service!

with twitter , facebook, etc we had people letting the world know the uninteresting boring details of their lives.
but they had to type(and so think a bit) , and edit and choose photos, etc,
but with ability to livestream uninteresting boring details of their lives ( nonstop as this will soon become), even whatever small checks there were, between event and its presentation, are removed.
You know, I've never had a Facebook account before - ever - but I'm gonna sign up for sure now!
I mean come on! I don't even have a timeline now, let alone can I post videos of myself to it or add live reactions. Just think of the exciting possibilities! Will I be able to tweet from it too?
The future is gonna be amazing! This is SO what I dreamed the 2000's would be like when I was a child. My wildest dreams come true at last.

I wonder how long it will take for someone to live stream something illegal or perhaps their suicide or something. Most Facebook users I know are not very smart - at least they do not appear to be when on Facebook. Some are impressively intelligent in person but pass as a moron rather easily on Facebook.
