Iran Is Arresting Models Who Pose Without Headscarves On Instagram (bbc.com)

An anonymous reader writes: The Tehran cybercrimes court said the country has arrested eight people working for online modeling agencies deemed to be "un-Islamic." The women models were arrested for starring in photos on Instagram and elsewhere without wearing their headscarves, which has been required in public since 1979. A total of 170 people have been identified by investigators for being involved in online modeling, including 59 photographers and make-up artists, 58 models and 51 fashion salon managers and designers. The court's prosecutor Javad Babaei announced the the threats on TV, claiming modeling agencies accounted for about 20 percent of posts on Instagram from Iran and that they had been "making and spreading immoral and un-Islamic culture and promiscuity." He added, "We carried out this plan in 2013 with Facebook, and now Instagram is the focus."

  1. don't wear that! no high heels, skirts, long hair! by vel-ex-tech · · Score: -1, Offtopic

While this is somewhat different since this is a government actually being involved, invariably it comes down to some feminist screeching about how oppressed the cisfemale hunnies are by the patriarchy. It's no small wonder feminism hates trans women. Who would want to be a woman? Only somebody mentally ill!

We're supposed to FEEL GUILTY because of high heels. FEEL GUILTY because of skirts. FEEL GUILTY because it's perfectly socially acceptable for cisgendered hunnies to have long hair. Now it'll be FEEL GUILTY because Muslim women wear hijabs to the supermarket without any sign of the supposed oppressor escort they're supposed to have with them.

High heels? I didn't force you to put those things on this morning and certainly not at gunpoint. I'll probably look forward to wearing them myself. I could use a 2-3" boost in height so at least some people need to "look up to me." Height is a surprising proxy for "leadership" and "responsibility." Skirts? I didn't force you to put a miniskirt on when it was 50 degrees out, and I didn't force you to wear the skirt or dress that may restrict your mobility. Long hair? Of all the fucking things.... Maybe cisfemale hunnies would prefer it if they were actually coerced into having short hair against their will whether they like it or not. Now hijabs.

Additionally, how many cisgendered women are complicit in enforcing these norms on each other? We never hear about that. We never hear about cisgendered women who are voting Trump; we never hear about cisgendered women who think abortion should be illegal; we never hear about cisgendered women who think even contraception should be illegal; we never hear about cisgendered women who fully believe that having a career, especially a STEM one, is wrong for a woman; we never hear about Muslim women who want their daughters' genitals mutilated (for no other reason than their were and child abuse is self-perpetuating); and we certainly never hear about cisgendered women who think that unmarried women shouldn't have short hair, shouldn't wear trousers, shouldn't wear something more sensible than high heels, and now shouldn't expose their un-scarfed heads in public.

Just feminists screeching and blaming people who don't have anything to do with the way cisfemale hunnies choose to dress for the choices cisfemales make. Iow, before feminism wants to blame all assigned males for trying to control women's bodies and oppressing them, feminism could do a thing or two about the cisfemales who are doing that.

I'm all out of fucks to give. It takes two to tango. I'm not readily believing that if being born female is such of a fucking horrible fate that 51% of the population wouldn't refuse to do that tango.

Anybody remember that committee that recently approved the idea of requiring cisfemale hunnies to register for selective service? What happened to that? Where were the feminists trumpeting from the rafters how much of a victory for equality that would be? Oh well, it died a quiet death.
