Maximizing Economic Output With Linear Programming...and Communism (medium.com)

Slashdot reader mkwan writes: Economies are just a collection of processes that convert raw materials and labour into useful goods and services. By representing these processes as a series of equations and solving a humongous linear programming problem, it should be possible to maximize an economy's GDP. The catch? The economy needs to go communist.
"[P]oorest members would receive a basic income that gradually increases as the economy becomes more efficient, plateauing at a level where they can afford everything they want to consume," argues the article, while "The middle classes wouldn't see much change. They would continue to work in a regular job for a regular -- but steadily increasing -- wage... Without the ability to own real-estate, companies, or intellectual property, it would be almost impossible to become rich, especially since the only legal source of income would be from a government job."

I really hate to call names, but this garbage really needs to stop getting spread around. If you want communism get the fuck out of the US and move to China or Russia! Be very happy in your Utopia, and leave us Free people alone!

Look, I get that the drive by idiot is going to think "Oh cool, everyone gets free money." because it sounds so damn easy. Reality is kept far away from those people however, because when you start to look at it the only possible way to have Utopia is to make everyone a slave. READ THE GODDAMN STORIES (there are several and all end up the same)!.

    1. Basic income - Requires a uniform standard of living across the board. You get a bed, not a water bed. You get a house, which must not be special because it has to cost exactly the same as every other house. You can't "save" for that new gaming system, because your standard of living would be higher than your neighbors. What's that? Kiss the right ass and you can have it? Got it, so corruption still works in an enslaved society but freedom and justice won't. You must be smart enough to realize that humans are still running things, though probably not bright enough to understand that an estimated 20% are narcissistic sociopaths to some degree. We have several very large real world examples you can go live in today, or study.

    2. Basic income - Requires a uniform Cost of living across the board. Detroit area market is about 30K for a 2,000 square foot house. Dallas Texas is about 300K for a 2,000 square foot house. But we have to be uniform so Houses in Detroit now cost 100K and Dallas cost 100K, you can't have a different cost of living if you are giving a flat rate of cash to everyone in lieu of other social welfare programs. If you invested in Dallas, or you can't afford a house in Detroit, fuck right off because you can't have a different standard of living. (For the feeble minded, an attempt to have variable rates for variable locations will result in cheating immediately. Once again, there are several real world examples for you to study or go live in.)

    3. Uniform cost and standard of living require _ALL_ jobs to pay the same wage regardless of any skills, education/training, or experience in the task. A Doctor can't make more than a janitor, because his standard of living would be higher and his educational investment would require more. That is totally unfair, and can't be allowed.

Water heads spreading Basic Income mythology and trying to sell communism are free to leave my country. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, and don't come crying back when you find that Utopia in Russia and China don't exist. Those are your attempts at Utopia to study.
