Tumblr To Introduce Ads Across All Blogs
Reader evelynlewis445 writes: Tumblr this week quietly announced plans to roll out a new advertising program across its site which will see it implementing ads across users' blogs. The company did not provide specific details on how the program will operate, but it appears to be an expansion of its earlier Creators program, which connects brands with Tumblr users directly, instead of having advertisers work with third-party influencer networks. The ads will begin appearing on the platform starting today. Tumblr remains one of the most popular blogging platforms, attracting over 550 million monthly users to its blogs. Tumblr creators will have an opportunity to share in the revenue from ads on their blogs. The company says that bloggers will have the ability to opt out of the program should they wish not to participate.
Who will be the next free blog host?
In the last month, regular features have been breaking. They've introduced horrible out of context text ads on search results. Are they going to put ads on Porn Blogs?

As if I don't have enough reasons not to read Tumblr?
I wonder what kind of ads will be shown.
I don't imagine above-board companies that care about their image will want their names plastered on any of the screwball blogs in that cesspool.
The company says that bloggers will have the ability to opt out of the program should they wish not to participate.
I already Opted Out. It's called AdBlock.
then when too many users choose this option... it becomes "oh you misunderstood, you can't reaaaaaally opt out... all that option really does is decrease the ads you see by maybe 1 or 2 a day".
IN BEFORE SOME DOUCHE SPAMS ABOUT MILLENNIAL SNOWFLAKES
I'm not sure this is a bad thing at all. Users have the ability to opt out. Also, it seems like an improvement over other sites like wordpress.com that require a certain volume of traffic before permitting users to profit from ads. The problem is the low quality of many ads and the distribution of malware. I don't really trust Tumblr to ensure that malware isn't spreading through their ads.
What did transsexual people do to deserve being associated with SJWs all the time? Do you have any justification other than the Internet meme? This isn't rhetorical, I'm really curious if you can remember the first time you came across the concept and became set against it.

I'm betting, Tumblr is doing it's best to seem as profitable as it can be considering the possible Verzion buy. Tumblr want to make sure they look as good as they can do they don't get axed by Verizon if the deal goes through.
My bigger concern is Verizon's buyout causing a change of TOS in Tumblr. Tumblr had the same issue when Yahoo bought them. Yahoo tried to clamp down on the adult material but for the most part if failed. Will Verizon do the same? Tumblr is one of the few mainstream places where adult material can be posted without TOS violations.
No good deed goes unpunished.
Maybe from their zealots being similar, leaping in front of offensive bullets and posturing loudly about victims.
Lots of groups have to worry about the image their radicals cause. Consider the last couple years - I imagine the more ordinary MLP fans erred towards caution re:Time And Place.
The alternative is to split and distinguish. Third-wave "feminists" have so much spectrum that some prefer not to associate with the umbrella label.
1. SJWs using them as a shield
2. "Brianna Wu" and others who are similarly SJW first and tranny second
Why didn't Yahoo do this as soon as they bought Tumblr? Why pay billions for something and then have no revenue stream from it, until you sell it. What a bunch of morons.
I also wonder what they did
"cis" or "cisgender" = being OK with the sex you were born with (because that's somehow bad now)
Usually only attributed to men, though.
Also "cishet" = the above + heterosexual (even worse)
And "cishet white male" is basically like saying "worse than Hitler".
Welcome to 201X. Political correctness has jumped the shark and turned into bigotry all over again - for retribution this time, aimed in the other direction.
If you enjoy your stay, don't make it known or you will surely offend someone and an internet mob will come after you, which isn't double-plus-good.
The summary neglected to mention, but Tumblr has promised that you will be able to share in the profit from the ads that appear on your own blog, if you choose not to opt out. (Similar to how a youtube channel owner can allow ads on their videos in exchange for a cut).
I imagine it won't be a meaningful amount of money for most users, but I think that's an important detail that makes this seem less Evil than it otherwise would.
Let's focus on whether they're punching up or down, because that makes getting punched feel so much better, knowing that someone is doing it because of the privileges granted by the skin color you were born with.
I'm proud to be a white straight male.
What's Tumblr? Never been there. Please, why should I? Also, Ads - what are those? Haven't seen one for a few years now....

Me too, but we are both posting AC because the PC Police could become so enraged by this sentiment than in five years time we could end up unemployable after some dox circus.
And that is the problem- SJWs are creepy today, but could be violent tomorrow, and they are simply the latest intolerant violent religion.
They only came to attention at my last college after the fundamentalist ukrainian faction, which managed to take over the student council on-campus, began placing attack posters around the campus utilizng photographs they had taken of trans people on campus under false pretenses (It's been a few years so i forget the specifics.)
Long story short, their persecution helped lead to discovery of graft on the part of the ukrainian student council, including using council funds for an off-campus religious themed concert in their neighborhood, which was many miles from the campus. It lead to an emergency impeachment vote of the whole council and a replacement of all members.
Hadn't heard a peep out of them after that, although I know they have some sort of LGBT thing for a couple hours once day out of the year.
Lots of SJW types to hate on, but not everybody is out there pushing it in your face. Honest the few I met on-campus were polite, but obviously uncomfortable with their place in society. I genuinely hope they can either become the people they want to be, physically, or find a group of people they can connect with mentally. Because the latter is hard as a white middle age male of unconventional political and social beliefs.
APK Hosts File Engine 9.0++ SR-4 32/64-bit https://www.google.com/search?...
Ads rob speed, security (malvertising), privacy (tracking).
Hosts add speed (hardcodes/adblocks), security (bad sites/poisoned dns), reliability (dns down), & anonymity (dns requestlogs/trackers) natively.
Works vs. caps & PUSH ads.
Avg. page = big as Doom http://www.theregister.co.uk/2... & ads = 40% of it.
Hosts != ClarityRay blockable (vs. souled-out to admen inferior wasteful redundant slow usermode addons)
Less power/cpu/ram + IO use vs. DNS/routers/addons/antivirus (slows you) + less security issues/complexity.
Compliments firewalls (blocking less used IP addys vs. hosts blocking more used domains) & DNS (lightens dns load).
Gets data via 10 security sites.
APK
P.S. - Safe https://www.virustotal.com/en/... (Verified by Malwarebytes' S. Burn "seen the code & it's safe" http://forum.hosts-file.net/vi... )
Can adblock+ do 16 things hosts do 4 speed, security & reliability:
1.) Protect vs. bad sites (past ads)
2.) Protect vs. fastflux botnet C&C servers
3.) Protect vs. dynamic dns botnet C&C servers
4.) Protect vs. DGA botnet C&C servers
5.) Protect vs. downed DNS (reliability)
6.) Protect vs. DNS redirect poisoned/downed dns
7.) Protect vs. trackers
8.) Protect vs. spam payloads
9.) Protect vs. phish payloads
10.) Protect vs. caps
11.) Get past dns blocks
12.) Keep off dns request logs
13.) Speed up 2 ways (adblocks & hardcodes)
14.) Work on anything webbound multiplatform.
15.) Ez data edit
16.) Block ads more efficiently in cpu/ram/I-O us
* ANSWER ="NO" on ab+ or @ ALL
APK
P.S.=> Ab+ does less vs. hosts less efficiently (a 128-151mb memory hog http://cdn.ghacks.net/wp-conte...)
ClarityRay defeats it
Ab+'s bribed not to work by default http://www.businessinsider.com...
AdBlock's SLOWER: http://superuser.com/questions...

shutup.
It streams in hosts data for protection then sorts & deduplicates it, checking the interior data for valid host-domains + TLDs, does a false positive check (based on lists from malwarebytes) + valid TLD check (yes, has new "long" gTLD unicode stuff too) on those host-domain names, & does reverse dns work for resolving your fav. sites to place hardcoded into hosts @ top of hosts for fastest resolution once cached in RAM (concatenating both sets of data into a final hosts file)...
* ... As to what it actually does in summation for added speed, security, reliability + anonymity online for users by using what you already NATIVELY have doing far more for FAR less resources & complexity/room for breakdown or exploit than other "so-called 'solutions'" can from 1 single output file result.
APK
P.S.=> Not done by script but by a multithreaded 32 or 64 bit self-contained GUI single executable created in Delphi Object-Pascal... apk
See subject: A good thing (in case of hosts being hijacked, which is impossible in usermode while my program runs mind you since it protects hosts vs. corruption)...
* I've read that "telemetry" sites are too but THAT I am not 100% sure of - but that's easy to get past via a few registry hacks manually (there's automated tools) OR firewall rulesets like the one I noted here-> https://tech.slashdot.org/comm... (there's catches though w/ BING & OUTLOOK.COM/hotmail).
APK
P.S.=> No, I won't patch system DLL's (my program doesn't even use 3rd party libs for example) - that's getting into a 'fight' w/ SFP-WFP & not something I'd do... apk
