Garmin Engineer Shot And Killed By Man Yelling 'Get Out Of My Country!' (theverge.com)

lxw56 writes: Garmin engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla was shot and killed at a local bar in Olathe, Kansas, the U.S. headquarters of Garmin. Co-worker Alok Madasani was also injured along with bystander Ian Grillot, who attempted to help the men. "The suspect in the shooting, Adam Purinton, was drinking at the bar in Olathe, Kansas, at about 7:15 p.m. that night," reports The Verge. "A witness said he yelled 'get out of my country' to two of the victims, reportedly saying the men, believed to originally be from India, were 'Middle Eastern.'" In 2015, Garmin employed 2,700 workers in Olathe and has plans to double this number, which the article notes has led to "increasing diversity" in the community.

Hmm... Wonder whether companies are going to have red-state or any-state hiring problems going forward. Yeah, things are cheaper there but somebody might end up punching your ticket if you look or sound funny. Crazy people are everywhere, but they seem better armed in the US.

We're not having a hiring problem at all. We don't hire any Trump supporters, and we don't have offices in red states. It's super simple. Let the assholes wallow in their own poverty. We're happy to pay taxes so that they can live on the dole, like most of them do, but we won't hire any of them. And, it's not about spite, either. It's just basic employee screening. Somebody who votes for Trump is not the kind of person we want working in our organization because obviously, they have problems with rational thinking.

Mmm you deliciously smug, condescending, insulting elitist asshole... Thank you for 4 years of Trump, and probably another 4 after that.

With caricatures like you who needs hyperbole?

We need a Trump Casualty Counter for when:
    1) People are killed are harmed because of stoked up hate used to win an election.
    2) Innocent families are ripped apart because of Trump policies
    3) Families are destroyed directly or indirectly by policy changes, particularly ones that clearly have no net benefit and are only racially motivated.
    4) Any increase in rape and other crimes against women that can reasonably be attributed to the environment that was fostered. (Many crimes cannot be reasonably attributed, but when you elected Trump, grab em by the **, I would not expect a new era of respect for women.)
    5) casualities attributed to defunding programs, particularly if those funds are wasted.
    6) Every single life that is destroyed because republicans made it harder to get birth control and all the rest. People do make mistakes. Demanding abortion be stopped is one thing. Making sure the resources are there so that mother is taken care of and her child is taken care of up through college is another. (The mother has to be taken care of while pregnant, less the child be born unable to eventually be able to become a productive adult.)
    7) Every single time a voter believes a lie by trump it is a causality to our very democracy, or by any other politician for that matter. You could model democracy as a bunch of AIs of varying intelligence being fed a stream of raw sewage. They aint gonna produce optimum results folks. Garbage In Garbage Out.
