Senate Confirms Neil Gorsuch To Supreme Court (washingtonpost.com)

On a vote of 54 to 45, senators confirmed Gorsuch, 49, a Denver-based judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit. He will become the 113th person to serve on the Supreme Court and is scheduled to be sworn in Monday. Gorsuch's confirmation was the result of a rule change in the Senate. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell used the power of his position to change the rules of the Senate to lower the threshold on Supreme Court nominations to end debate from 60 to 51 votes. Therefore, "all presidential nominees for executive branch positions and the federal courts need only a simple majority vote to be confirmed by senators," reports Washington Post.

I didn't see that coming. Anti-gay, Anti-Abortion, Pro-death penalty with a reputation of being "to the right of Scalia" and they had to change the rules to get him appointed to a stolen seat.

Thats not what he said, what he said is that the people who don't share your demographics are getting fucked over... not that you are personally doing it, but if you ignore that others are getting fucked over you are complicit in that... even if republicans have trouble understanding what that word means.
But I will say it. Just look up "racial frame" to understand how past behavior has poisoned the present for people of all races. Nobody gets to say "I'm not a racist, so racism isn't my problem".
The popular vote is meaningless but it's still true that the Electoral College has extreme problems, mainly dealing with the fact that states are "winner take all." That needs to be done way with. I'd love to see an amendment requiring that electoral votes from representatives MUST go to the winner of that district, and then leave the two electoral votes for senators to be up to the state to decide.
The reality is that tons of voters are disenfranchised by winner takes all because their votes may as well not exist. That would correct that problem and also correctly reflect the reality that there are no "blue states," only purple states with large cities.
