Uber CEO To Take Leave, Diminished Role After Workplace Scandals (bloomberg.com)
Uber CEO Travis Kalanick will take a leave of absence from the world's most valuable privately held company, he announced in an email to employees Tuesday. From a report: Uber Chief Executive Officer Travis Kalanick told staff he plans to take a leave of absence, without disclosing a return date. The company will strip him of some duties and appoint an independent chair to limit his influence after a slew of scandals, according to an advance copy of a report prepared for the board. At a staff meeting Tuesday, the company will convey the results of a probe conducted by Eric Holder, the former U.S. attorney general who Uber hired to look into allegations of harassment, discrimination and an aggressive culture. The 47 recommendations include creating a board oversight committee, rewriting Uber's cultural values, reducing alcohol use at work events, and prohibiting intimate relationships between employees and their bosses. Uber's board met Sunday to review a detailed version of the report and voted unanimously to approve the recommendations. Afterward, the San Francisco-based company ousted Emil Michael, Uber's head of business.
Actually, it seems as if the most predictable comment on these stories is, "believe the accusers regardless of evidence" like yours.

Bet you don't even realize that trans men exist, do you? Yeah, that's right, one of your "Hunnies" (as you undoubtedly think of them) might undergo gender transition and live as a man. I'll bet you didn't even think of that. What would you even do? Would you finally admit that somebody assigned the female gender at birth who transitions to living as a man doesn't need your help? How does that play out in your world? Does that person become a rapist the second they begin testosterone HRT? Or didn't you even think that was possible?
Womyn-born-womyn are merely sexual objects to you, aren't they? Womyn-born-womyn are all helpless princesses in another castle that need you to ride in on a white horse to save them from evil bathroom invaders like me, huh? They're not individuals with hopes and dreams and challenges to you, are they? And let me guess,
- lesbians exist solely for your sexual pleasure too
- gay men are by definition misogynists because they don't date women
- trans women are metaphysical rapists with woman suits who are lurking in every bathroom just waiting to rape one of your "Hunnies"
- trans men don't exist, amirite? Gender transition is just something for mentally ill assigned males. The pure, virginal womyn-born-womyn princess you worship would never do something like eschew being sex objects for you to live as men. Doesn't even exist in your world, does it?
People like you really, really get under my skin. You do realize that assholes like you are no different from the assholes at Uber? You just wave a different flag.
So if you're so convinced that no man deserves any type of success and has only succeeded because of rampant prejudice, why haven't you hung your head in shame and exited the industry to spend your days atoning for your sins and those of your gender in a remote monastery?
