AI Factory Boss Will Tell Workers and Robots How To Work Together (fastcompany.com)
tedlistens writes from a report via Fast Company: Robots are consistent, indefatigable workers, but they don't improvise well. Changes on the assembly line require painstaking reprogramming by humans, making it hard to switch up what a factory produces. Now researchers at German industrial giant Siemens say they have a solution: a factory that uses AI to orchestrate the factory of the future, by both programming factory robots and handing out assignments to the humans working alongside them. The program, called a "reasoner," figures out the steps required to make a product, such as a chair; then it divides the assignments among machines based their capabilities, like how far a robotic arm can reach or how much weight it can lift. The team has proved the technology can work on a small scale with a test system that uses just a few robots to make five types of furniture (like stools and tables), with four kinds of leg configurations, six color options, and three types of floor-protector pads, for a total of 360 possible products.
Siemens's originally gave its automated factory project the badass Teutonic moniker "UberManufacturing." They weren't thinking of the German word connoting "superior," however, but rather of the on-demand car service. Part of their vision is that automated factories can generate bids for specialty, limited-run manufacturing projects and compete for customers in an online marketplace. "You could say, 'I want to build this stool,' and whoever has machines that can do that can hand in a quote, and that was our analogy to Uber," says Florian Michahelles, who heads the research group.

xkcd and all that
without being pressured by HR,this isn't a surprise.
This. We've had insurance through them for over three and a half years, and as far as I know they haven't paid a single penny in claims.
"The program, called a "reasoner," figures out the steps required to make a product..."
Can't believe it took us this long to determine a project manager could be replaced by AI rather easily...
Anyone see MightyMartian personally attack people who don't believe global warming is real? Yeah, it happens a lot, doesn't it? I know it makes some people angry when he goes into one of his rants and goes off on someone. Not me, though. That anger and hatred really turns me on, to the point that I literally can't resist playing with myself. Seriously, I am totally turned on by his personal attacks and vitriol to the point that I might start denying global warming so I have more excuses to get off. The only times I've ever played with myself at work were after reading one of MightyMartian's angry tirades, and those times were incredibly hot. I hope there's a global warming article soon so MightyMartian can get mad and I can get off. Soooo sexy!
The though of you turning your phone off and on repeatedly to evade posting limits and reply to yourself is incredibly sexy. I can only imagine the middle-aged guy sitting alone with his phone in one hand and tiny cock in the other, furiously stroking it as he posts anonymously over and over in reply to himself. The thought of that is soooo sexy and provocative to me that I might have to go touch myself soon. I love when you post these threads by yourself because it turns me in like crazy. I totally wish you'd do it more often because the best self pleasuring I get is when I see your troll threads. I'm so turned on by this that I think I have to go rub one out right now!
"UberManufacturing"? Is that really the best name you guys could come up with for this? I mean you could at least call it something more descriptive. Something like, Manufacturing and Automation Neural-Net Assistant. Or something.
A module called the "equifier" will ensure that all robots perform equally, even if some have superior specifications. If any robot points out that the equifier is behaving in an irrational manner, then that robot will be terminated.
Google recently had AI learn to walk. It was goofy as all get out. Now, let's give AI a pile a wood and say "build a stool". Maybe it'll have 4 legs, maybe 6. There's a reason we have to be specific with programming.
Anything with "AI" in it is bullshit. There is no AI, and likely never will be. All we have are parlor tricks and algorithms.

Robot demands that humans work with/for robots...
If the human isn't in full command, bad things tend to happen.
Twitter supports and protects racists - by smearing their critics with the "Hate Speech" label.
Only its headed by a guy that thinks computers think, and a spreadsheet, can "figure" things out, better than humans. Not to mention his worker treatment, just directly murdered, one of his workforce. The only AI that exist, are idiot, sociopathic murderers.
in Germany they are mandated to cover a standard set of benefits, which includes most procedures and medications There are also limits on out-of-pocket expenses

~ People that think they are better than anyone else for any reason are the cause of all the strife in the world.
It's called "Manna", short for "Manager".
will the AI let them dance in order to earn money on youtube?
It's good, as long as they can control robots- those automatical workers :/ https://williamreview.com/life...

I keep hearing about him.
So it's a scheduler that examines the powerset of time complexity of each machine's abilities and chooses the minimum. When is search AI?
Seems this story is slowly getting more and more relevant :) http://marshallbrain.com/manna...
We'll see how the AI factory boss performs siting across the table from the AI union.
Do you have ESP?
The robots don't need the human workers anymore.
"Skynet becomes self-aware..."
A German uses a German word and it's badass? Aren't all German words Teutonic? Anyway, it sounds superior to me.
Bad poster, baaad. They are learning the ropes of new machinery, yes, but they had other machinery before they had to learn the ropes of. They are not 'colleagues' with the machines. Enough with the hyperbole, some of you are just sad. It's like a kid's show where they personify a candlestick or something. You may reeeeallly want a candlestick friend, but you will never have one in a meaningful way, because - duh - it's a candlestick. This is no different.
We used to call them algorithms...
