FCC Extends Net Neutrality Comment Period By Two Weeks (theverge.com)

An anonymous reader quotes a report from The Verge: You'll have two extra weeks to file your thoughts with the FCC on its plan to get rid of net neutrality. The proposal's comment period was originally scheduled to end next week, on August 16th, but the commission just pushed the date out to August 30th. The extension was granted in response to 10 groups asking for more time to respond. They had been looking for an additional eight weeks, but the commission said an additional two weeks would be more in line with the type of extensions granted in the past. The commission didn't signal that disruptions to its filing system, caused by an apparent DDOS attack, factored into the decision at all. Granting a two week extension gives people more time to file "reply comments," which are meant to respond to what people filed during the first phase of the comment period, which closed in July. That comment period had been much longer than usual, because the commission released the proposal a month before it was voted on.

Well, some Congressmen pimp slapped them and told them it's not gonna be that easy, which is why they're extending discussions. So maybe, just maybe, they won't get their way.

You are right - it doesn't matter. With the ratio of comments already insanely one-sided against the FCC's plan to dismantle net neutrality, Idgit Paj has already made it clear he doesn't give a shit. Look at the group he just put together for advice.

This is a corrupt joke. Everyone knows it. The media, the people, Trump, and Idgit. But Trump was elected and this is what we get. It's only going to get worse.

That letter from the Congressmen was one of the best things I have ever read. It was harsh and just plain savage. It put it very plainly that the FCC doesn't have the legal authority to undo net neutrality, and even if they did, it would be a horrifically bad decision socially, economically, and a dozen other ways. And this letter came from a bunch of the people that wrote the law that governs the FCC. They know.

The FCC will either just bot to promote whatever agenda Daddy Trump wants, or remain willfully ignorant as a generic social media agency does the job "anonymously" anyways.

And the Snowflake-in-Chief doesn't want the Internet talking shit about him, as evidenced by his now-unlawful blockings on Twitter, so you better believe that the killing of net neutrality is just the beginning of wider, crippling censorship.
