CNN Visualizes Climate Change-Driven Arctic Melt With 360-Degree VR Video (cnn.com)

dryriver writes: CNN has put up a slickly produced and somewhat alarming 360-degree browser video experience that allows the viewer to see firsthand what arctic melt looks like in Greenland. The video takes the viewer to the "Ground Zero" of climate change. Throughout the 7-minute long video, the viewer can interactively look around the locations visited. Voice narration and various scientists featured in the video explain what is happening in the Arctic, what causes the melting, and what the potential consequences are for the world.

      It is scary, during the summer the average temperature is 27.3 degrees Celsius with spikes up to 35 degrees Celsius, human cells will die at 41 degrees Celsius, hyperthermia begins at 37.5 – 38.3 degrees Celsius, the natural human body temperature is 36.5 – 37.5 degrees Celsius.

      Earths temperature is forecast to increase 2.0 - 4.9 degrees Celsius by 2100, these are conservative estimates as some now believe that the warming process can trigger chain reactions in soil releasing trapped CO2 making the temperature rise in an upward curve rather than linear line.

      While this means north america will be safe for awhile, other parts of the planet are already at or above human tolerance, and these zones will spread into ever larger diameters. North america itself will begin to experience days which will reach lethal temperature ranges before 2100.

      When the external environmental temperature tips above our body temperature we begin to slow cook within our own skin unable to release heat.

      What we are looking at is an extinction level event preceded by large death counts each summer until we can no longer survive. Our survival temperature zone is only a few fragile degrees.
