Eric Schmidt Is Stepping Down As Executive Chairman of Alphabet (cnbc.com)

Eric Schmidt will be stepping down as the executive chairman of Alphabet's board of directors and transitioning to a technical adviser, the company announced. He will continue to serve on the company's board. CNBC reports: Schmidt first joined Google as CEO in 2001, back when the company only had several hundred employees, and become its executive chairman 10 years later. He maintained that role when Google restructured to become Alphabet in 2015.

"Larry, Sergey, Sundar and I all believe that the time is right in Alphabet's evolution for this transition," Schmidt said in a statement. "The Alphabet structure is working well, and Google and the Other Bets are thriving. In recent years, I've been spending a lot of my time on science and technology issues, and philanthropy, and I plan to expand that work."

So either, no, it's not a sexual assault allegation, or Alphabet is confident all the proper payoffs have been made and the targets of abuse will keep quiet forever... smart money's on the former.

Considering he had an "open marriage" with his wife which is basically to say she didn't want to give up access to all his cash while he fucks escorts in his manhattan sex loft, i'd be surprised if he didn't rape a bit, but he's probably stepping down because he was too close to the Clintons, and after Her failed candidacy, and net neutrality getting nuked, he got forced out for backing the wrong horse after failing to read the political winds. Hopefully this will lead to Google being less of a Clintonite operation.

Wikileaks really exposed the Clintons badly last year. This one didn't get as much outrage as rigging the primaries, or cheating in the debates, but it's probably what sank Schmidt.
