Apple is Sending Some Developers Ad Spend and Install Details For Other People's Apps (techcrunch.com)

An issue at Apple appears to be resulting in app developers getting emails of ad spend and install summaries for apps belonging to other developers. From a report: The issue -- which appears specific right now to developers using Search Ads Basic, pay-per-install ads that appear as promoted apps when people search on the App Store -- was raised on Twitter by a number of those affected, including prominent developer Steve Troughton-Smith, who posted a screenshot of an email that summarized January's ad spend and install data another developer's two apps. Several others replied noting the same issue, listing more developers and random apps.

I really question how many really good people are at Apple anymore? Maybe its just because the leadership is so incompetent these days. Nothing else, this is a privacy nightmare for Apple. I've stopped putting Apple on a pedestal anymore, they don't deserve that stature.

But.. spend is a word. I have no clue what the fuck "Ad Spend and Install Details" is supposed to be, but that doesn't mean the phrase contains non-words.

Apple has been focusing on making pretty products, not functional ones for a while. All the reset major bugs show that technical debt is being called in. I used to swear by MacBooks as a development machine. The latest versions of MacOS are just junk. They seem to be geared towards content consumption and little else.

I see the iPhone X also has a bug where it can't receive calls. That's fine. It's main purpose is to show you have an iPhone X and are an "arteest" rather than be a phone.

My next computer will likely be a FreeBSD machine. The hardware and software are no longer insanely great. Now they are just pretty.

Not many comments here, unusually. I see that the ifanbois know to avoid this thread because the people who have been pointing out ALL companies do this user tracking are correct.
