The GNOME Foundation Is Hiring (gnome.org)
"The GNOME Foundation is pleased to be able to offer paid employment to exceptional people who have the drive to help us complete our mission," reads a new announcement. Gnome.org explains:
Today, July 6th 2018, the GNOME Foundation has announced a number of positions it is recruiting for to help drive the GNOME project and Free Software on the desktop.
As previously announced, this has been made possible thanks to a generous grant that the Foundation has received, enabling us to accelerate this expansion. "These positions are key to ensuring that the Foundation remains sustainable and that we are able to support the community in key areas," said Neil McGovern, Executive Director of the GNOME Foundation.

"These positions are key to ensuring that the Foundation remains sustainable and that we are able to support the community in key areas," said Neil McGovern, Executive Director of the GNOME Foundation.
The Foundation is currently recruiting for four posts:
- Development Coordinator. This will ensure that we receive sufficient funds to continue our work delivering free software.
- Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator will free up time from those involved in organizational, administrative and logistical problems.
- Devops/Sysadmin. The systems and services we run need proper maintenance and care. As Flathub [An app store and build service for Linux] continues to grow, more support is needed to achieve this.
- GTK+ core developer. GTK+ is core to our entire platform. Investing in development and maintenance of this toolkit will benefit the whole GNU/Linux ecosystem.
"The Foundation is keen to hear from any person who is interested in applying for one of these posts."
Donald TRUMP has made the economy hot in order to raise taxes and send them to his old friend Vladimir Putin. Sure there are some job increases, but what idiot wants to work for Gnome?
-Beau-
And here I was thinking the bank would gift me my mortgage payments like how companies have been asking us to gift our time and skill.
or to people who think that they're exceptional?
Can't help but think of this comic from Oglaf.
(*) Possibly NSFW. This one is actually OK if you're not a SJW, but other comics in the series are definitely NSFW.

>" to exceptional people who have the drive to help us complete our mission"
Is the mission ever actually "complete"? Besides, sometimes it seems the mission is just to change things constantly in a way that irritates as many users as possible.
Yeah, a friendly reminder for all:
The GNOME Foundation Is Running Short On Money - Written by Michael Larabel in GNOME on 13 April 2014
"The GNOME Foundation got into this situation through its Outreach Program for Women (OPW) and managing the program (and funds) for a number of other participating organizations."
=====
When you are trying to double as a coding company and a social politics company, you are in the shitter.
Social (in)Justice Evangelists are a shortcut into sending your money down the drain.
Instead of increasing the quality of your products you increase the political masturbation points of a bunch of idiots who sell "a bright future" snake oil
and fund a bunch of feminists who will act like they are coding while achieving nothing.
Example:
- Ayo.js forked themselves from node.js over a white male. They spent a lot of time on making sure everyone declared their preferred pronouns and setting up a CoC and working on such fine slogans like "Humans before technology" and making a logo.
Almost NO actual programmers joined and after a couple of months this became obvious since the changes brought by the project were comical and completely lacking in any showcase of programming education, and the thing started to lose steam.
So despite all these stupid articles from polygon and gizmodo about the impending doom of node.js, Ayo.js is dead after 5 months.
Examples keep on appearing exponentially with each day.
- FreeBSD suddenly forcibly coercing/demanding from users to become political "ambassadors" by a Code of Conduct copy pasted from some feminist wiki, completely unrelated to the object of the community or their initial interests in becoming part of it. Result? Skilled staff loss.
- Firefox seeing an additional loss of support from its userbase because Mozilla misappropriated donations for Firefox into social justice socio-political bullcrap, because if users wanted to donate into such garbage they would have gone to specialized organizations and not Mozilla where they expect that funding a piece of software funds that and only that.
- GitHub. Go to the explore page and you'll see it overtaken by "a showcase of diverse developers" which is just a list of black women and white knights either doing simple ruby crap or writing ideas in text files on a repo and calling themselves developers.
Form over function, outnumbering of normal developers who do what they do best by idiotic rainbow-goggle SJWs who care more about changing wording to please their little virtue-signaling egos than making anything functional. Their mantra: "I'm a programmer if i feel like it, not if i know how to program."
- Yahoo. Hired Marissa Mayer as their CEO in 2012. Mayer had a lot of solid experience at Google, including some time as VP of Search and other big products. But once she was put in charge of Yahoo she made a series of boneheaded management decisions like getting rid of remote work for employees (despite using it herself), buying tumblr (whose market value they promptly obliterated) and hiring Katie Couric to be "Global Anchor" of Yahoo News (which was by then totally irrelevant). By the time Mayer resigned in 2017 the company had spent five years spinning its wheels, redesigning and retiring its own products and acquiring random startups despite continuous financial struggle. Most notably she and the management she put in place were accused of discriminating against men for years, including firing men for no reason just to replace them with women.
Do not spend on promises of ideologues.
Do not spend on politics.
Do not spend on a vocal minority of idiots, if you are ganged up by SJW's then just treat it as a marketing opportunity that you would otherwise not have,
a marketing opportunity which may employ a shitload of nerds into your collective who are capable of coding for 16 hours straight in comparison to a bunch of feminists who only use coding as a meta-justification while naturally spending most of their daytime preaching and holding activist rallies and empty talks about how they are filled with hatred and frustrations on a daily basis which pollute and corrupt their surroundings as well.
One Indian. Seems like a good use of money.

Dump GNOME! Use KDE or something else, other desktop environment, not based on GNOME.
I think there's a certain Slashdotter who has made his "Internet home" here who would gladly rummage around and troubleshoot keyboards for the developers.
Just don't let him talk, he'll suck you in his world and you might not make it.

Nothing changed. Rumors he went to this to that etc. Everybody knows Gnome is as bleeding edge as windows 3.1. Stupid looking piece of shit let it die.
In our group bureaucratic and WASTE $OF BITS AND correct network bunch of retarded FreeBSD went out and arms and dick Memb3rs' creative filed countersuit,
Remove dbus, pulse, and systemd, then we can talk about all the other bloat.
I want .dotfiles. And fire all the Windows-want-a-bes that have been fucking up Linux GUIs the last 2 decades.
If I wanted a GUI like Windows, I'd run Windows.
If I want a GUI like OSX, I'd run OSX.
Some Gnome things are nice. Most are bloated. I remember running X11 on a system with 8MB of RAM and it was nice. I have 500x more RAM and a 1000x faster CPU now, and Gnome is sluggish.
No skin color/number of sexual identities/missing limb requirement to be hired ? :D
Well, people are free to (legally) do what they want with their money but there are plenty of DE's that could use some resources. Gnome 2 was nice though. I should give MATE a go.
So gNome gets a million dollar donation a month or two ago from a mystery donor, and the foundation decides to increase their bureaucracy instead of spreading the much needed funds to various gnome projects? It's a shit foundation that enriches and expands it own administration rather than allocate the funds raised from donations where they could be of the most benefit to the project.
BTW, do mystery donors have to agree and sign the Gnome code of conduct before their money is accepted? No? Didn't think so.
- they got a bunch of money
- the lazy fruits running the project need a way to funnel it back to themselves
- they quickly invent a bunch of positions, saying they "need" them
- nobody who uses GNOME or has worked on GNOME thinks any of those positions is necessary
- they will advertise the positions briefly, before giving them to completely unqualified friends
- the GTK dev will introduce more dependencies
Better roll up your sleeves and get cracking, then, bucko. F/OSS isn't made to order.
To invent a system that ignored the users' needs?
No one I know uses GNOME3. We've moved onto better things.
But in prison, only other prisoners can hear you scream, traitor faggot. Get with Trump in the cage. He needs a bitch like you.
Breaking everything.
And requiring everything else to be rewritten. Again.
It’s funny how we haven’t really moved that far beyond what gnome 1 could do.
I guess it’s hard when we throw everything out every decade for new, shiny.
I've always liked those pointy red hats!
I used to be a fan. It seemed like Gnome got better with every update.
Then came Gnome 3. I hated it right away, it seemed far inferior to Gnome-2 in every way.
None-the-less, I tried to like it. I thought I might like it if I got used to used to it.
But is just sucked too badly.
Now I use MATE, which is far superior, IMO. Never looked back.
No open positions in the "Inclusion & Diversity" department? Damn, & not even any openings in the "Code of Conduct" compliance & enforcement department!!! Double-damn!
