China Requires Blockchain-Based Information Service Providers To Register Users Using Real Names, Censor Postings and Store User Data (scmp.com)

Chinese users will have to register their real names before they can use online information services based on blockchain, in the first set of rules specifically targeting the technology behind digital currencies like bitcoin that is known for providing anonymity for users. From a report: Under proposed new rules, companies and entities operating in China that provide blockchain-based information services will have to ask users to register their real names and national identification card numbers, censor content deemed to pose a threat to national security and store user data to allow inspection by authorities. The Cyberspace Administration of China published the draft regulations on its website on Friday for public consultation until November 2. It is not clear when the rules will come into effect. The latest rules come after an activist in China published an open letter in April about an alleged cover-up of sexual harassment at a top university more than two decades ago on the ethereum blockchain, after the post attracted censors on social media platforms such as WeChat and Weibo. The anonymous poster attached the letter to an ether transaction to himself, in a move similar to leaving a note in a bank transfer. But since all transaction records are public on ethereum, the letter can be read by anyone.

      Yeah America has too many níggers infesting all its significant cities. They should be returned to Africa so places like Atlanta and Birmingham can go back to being nice places to live like they were when they were 90+% white. What better way to admit how wrong slavery was than to undo it?

      What's interesting is the writings of the liberals of 100 years ago. They refer to the negro as a child race. This is understandable given their (measured) low levels of impulse control and future-time orientation. These two alone help explain their high levels of criminal behavior. This is true wherever they are found including nations that never had slavery or jim crow. Study that for yourself and the whole "institutional racism made us this way" excuse wears thin. But hey, anything to avoid holding them responsible for the choices they make.

      So how is it that most murders in the US are black males murdering other black males? How is it that black men refuse to father their black children more than any other race?

      How is it that you see the same criminal violence in black-run black-majority areaas of the world (that is, ALL OF THEM)?

      Refugees seek asylum, typically from abusive or failed states. Migrants seek a new home, or work, or something else. Iâ(TM)ll be real, if I was in their position I might do the same. However, I donâ(TM)t see it as our responsibility to open the gates to a bunch of barbarians who evidently donâ(TM)t shy from violence, and crap up wherever they go as a matter of routine. It would set precedent that anyone who comes to knock at the door is welcome in, which would be more disastrous long run.
      Either we recognize their homelands as failed states, and get the world to chip in to help fix it, or we tell them to fuck off back home.

      The amazing thing is - black crime rates, drug use, family dysfunction (fatherless children, domestic abuse etc) actually GOT WORSE since Civil Rights and the end of segregation and Jim Crow.

      Blacks score poorly on average IQ, impulse control and measuremetns of future-time orientation. The reason there were Jim Crow laws was the belief that blacks cannot function properly in a modern Western society so their behavior had to be closely and strictly regulated. If that belief is false then they should have improved once such laws were repealed. That has not been the case at all.

      W.E.B. du Bois himself wrote about the abysmal "unchaste" nature of blacks and how their inability to maintain a healthy family structure (stable two-parent home) has harmed them. He also wrote "that the first and greatest step toward the settlement of the present friction between the races lies in the correction of the immorality, crime and laziness among Negroes. ".

      In 1899 du Bois wrote "The number of deserted wives, however, allowing for false reports, is astoundingly large and presents many intricate problems. A very large part of charity given to Negroes is asked for this reason. The causes of desertion are partly laxity in morals and partly the difficulty of supporting a family. The result of this large number of homes without husbands is to increase the burden of charity and benevolence, and also on account of their poor home life to increase crime. Here is a wide field for social regeneration." He continued: "There can be no doubt but what sexual looseness is to-day the prevailing sin of the mass of the Negro population, and that its prevalence can be traced to bad home life in most cases. Children are allowed on the street night and day unattended; loose talk is often indulged in; the sin is seldom if ever denounced in the churches. Unhappily, the fountain is tainted at the source. The great body of the race have scarcely any notion of the foundation principles of pure family life. They appear not only to have no idea of morality, but to lack any instinct upon which such an idea can be founded."

      I could go on and on with other black observers but the point is, only recently is it taboo to be honest.

      The economic system is not related to to how totalitarian the government is.
      A Capitalist system can be just as Totalitarian as a Communist one is. Also a Communist government could also be a nice place to live and work.

      Now Communism has a problem where any person who doesn't play by the plan can hurt the system. While Capitalism expected no plan, so anyone who does better then nothing, is a net benefit. This creates a tenancy for communism to be more brutal in people following rules.
      But Capitalism is often more insidious where the people who have money have the power, however they use their power behind the scenes, and are not the face of power.

      Communism doesn't require a totalitarian government, true, but to say they aren't related is not. When you centralize all power, government and economic, when mixed with human nature, it tends towards this. There's a reason all communist governments have had quite a severe totalitarian streak to them. Absolute power corrupts absolutely and such.

      Capitalism can't thrive under any totalitarianism; be it communism, or fascism (two sides of the same coin called 'tyranny').

      What we have in the US is called crony-capitalism, AKA corruption. That's a result of the electorate not being actively involved in the democratic process. You can't just set the Gov to "auto pilot" and not expect it to breakdown and become the monster that it is today.

      The government you get is the government you deserve.

      Haiti was prosperous and had things like sanitation back when it was run by the French. Now Haiti is the same result you see anytime blacks run things. All majority black areas that are not run by whites/asians work out this way. If you want an example closer to home see how Atlanta got even worse when the majority black residents elected black officials to run things.

      If you wanna cry "RACISS!!" and plug up your ears you can do that. If you want a well researched writeup with facts and references you can find one here explaining their tendencies.

      A capitalist cleptocratic democracy Ukraine vs a communism nostalgia dictatorship Belarus. Same white skin colour, a very similar language, the two countries have the same status of being former soviet republics. Yet Belarus has over twice the GDP per capita, despite Ukraine having far more natural resources and being a capitalist democracy. Apparently being corrupt sucks far more than being a dictatorship.

      Since every transaction is recorded, none can be hidden. Since every new transaction is added to the ledger, no transactions are removed. This is the perfect system for a totalitarian state, so long as you control the nodes that determine the truth, and the first transaction is you announcing yourself.

      This doesn't per se outlaw blockchain in China. True, China could not remove things from blockchains, BUT if China knows who put any given thing on a blockchain and is willing to torture/disappear them, blockchains don't have to be illegal to be acceptable to the Chinese authorities.

    I was thinking about it earlier today and it occurred to me: what innovations on the internet have been furthered by anonymity? I can think of a huge number of bad-actors that are supported by it, from Credit Card thieves to hackers and even video game cheaters.

    I keep coming back to what anonymity has gained us. You could make a case for political activism in dictatorial countries. Freedom of speech in those countries as well. So perhaps the problem is that I've never needed that anonymity to function like others. So let's hear it. What positive innovations or events have come to pass on the net due to it's anonymous structure?

    This in no way means I support China in ANY way. I just think it's smart to realize what this anonymous access gets us that's positive. It's easy to see the negatives - right down to all those fantastic robocalls that we get with spoofed area codes and exchange numbers.

      Are you troll, or foolish? Whistle-blowers generally anger those in charge who'd like to keep their shady dealings in the dark. If you can report it anonymously, then the whistle-blower's life doesn't have to be ruined. Ask Edward Snowden if you have any questions. There's one example among many.

      I guess asking an honest question here is "trolling" or "foolish" and gets modded down. My mistake. We all have avenues of doing things anonymously. You can drop a package at your local newspaper if you like. Spoof your phone number and call a reporter. There are certainly ways to whistleblow that maintain your anonymity, including many 1-800 numbers that are set up for exactly that purpose.

      In fact, I mentioned essentially that in the original post. I included political speech and freedom from tyranny. But don't let you stop that from calling names then basically repeating what I already said.

    Nonsense. It's perfectly possible for someone under a capitalist system to be a drag on the system while making a lot of economic activity. Happens all the time. See the housing crisis in 2008 which was caused by a lot of people acting in their own self interest but eventually crashing the system. Explain to me how Bernie Madoff was a net benefit - I'd love to hear that one...

    You mean as opposed to mass incarceration of people for minor offenses, prison camps for Japanese during WWII, Guantanamo Bay, routine murder of minorities by police, near genocide of native peoples, Jim Crow laws, etc - all of which happened in our capitalist society, some rather recently. While I understand and agree that what we call communist countries are generally more towards the dictator end of the spectrum, let's not pretend that capitalist countries have clean hands either. The US has a greater percentage of its population in prison than China does so it's pretty hard to argue that the US isn't rather brutal too - particularly to those without much money.

    But Capitalism is often more insidious where the people who have money have the power, however they use their power behind the scenes, and are not the face of power.

    That happens in both communist and capitalist societies as well as every other form of economic structure you can think of. That is not unique to capitalism.

      Yes but China has no black population to speak of which gives them a HUGE advantage on that metric. Even when you account for socio-economic status blacks (esp black males) are the single most violent demographic in America by a large margin.

    Cuba is a *drastically better* place to live than Haiti. Do the research yourself.

    This is just one piece of a very big picture to get you started. Highlights:

    "Please note that U.S. Embassy staff may only visit downtown Port-au-Prince in armored vehicles and must observe a midnight-to-5 a.m. curfew. "

    "Travel by road is difficult and dangerous in Haiti. The situation on the roads can be described as chaotic. Drivers in Haiti must use extreme caution. Poor road conditions and the absence of traffic rules lead to unpredictable and dangerous driving behavior."

    Haiti has no sanitation or public health to speak of. What the previous page doesn't delve into is the long list of vaccinations you need to receive (4-6 weeks) before setting foot on Haitian soil.

    That's just the beginning. Really you have no idea how bad it is in Haiti or any other black-goverened nation. They simply cannot effectively manage anything larger than a clan or tribe.
