Yeah, that's right, Lego stiffed us geeks with a preprogrammed control module. This thing is totally ROM preprogrammed, no IR port, no RAM. Basically, Lego's selling the gullible public a Furby in an Astromech's clothing. *Bleah*

Of course, if you want something really programmable, you could pay another ~US$120 for a "real" control brick, or ~US$200 for the whole Mindstorms set.

I liked the ISP's home page. They seemed proud of their web statistics. So they "found out where" the accesses were coming from and the destination vanishes? Hah.

Hmmm, at $200 for the basic set, not only are these toys for dorks, they're toys for rich dorks! The Star Wars crap on top of that and you're all set for an afternoon of playing with yourself. ;>

Lego would be much better off dropping the price on this cool stuff so that the people that should have it - THE KIDS - can have it.

Only if you're in the US. Trying to get hold of Mindstorms outside the US gets you a wall of stony silence from Lego distributors.

In New Zealand we have a law permitting parallel importing, but outside suppliers daren't ship for fear of offending Lego. It's like Microsoft in Toyland.
