Linux Expo and Star Wars

Liz Mecham writes "Linux Expo will be raffling off Star Wars tickets for both Thursday and Friday nights. Fill out a survey at the information booth and you will be entered to win several pairs of tickets. Just to let you know, tickets are still available at local theatres such as Mission Valley. " And in only five hours, I get to go on the plane to fly there! Whee!

    I went to NCSU just up the street from Mission Valley. You REALLY don't want to see a movie like Star Wars in that little theatre. Sounded a lot like people screaming into tin cans...

      In actuallity, Mission Valley might be one of the best. While they have several small theateres, they have a HUGE one as well.

      With NCSU having graduated this past weekend, it might be clear too? (prolly not, but who knows)

    ...well, almost. The Mission Valley theatre is right next to Cup-A-Joe's, an Internet cafe. You can surf while waiting for the movie to start (or while all the !@#$!@#$ the trailers are showing).

    We're driving in from Missouri tommorow but won't be in until late... Anyone going to be standing in line anyways and mind getting 4 extra tickets? Doesn't matter what night or time (: Ah well, it was worth a shot.

    Why would you pay $500 on ebay for Star Wars tickets? I can go down to my local theatre and buy opening day tickets, even now, less than twenty four hours in advance. I think only the midnight showing has sold out, the rest still have tickets available. Apparently Star Wars is not as popular as the media would have us believe.

    Got my 4 matinee tickets for $4/ yesterday at the Freemont theater in downtown San Luis Obispo CA. For 4pm Wednesday showing. No line, still lots of tickets left for the evening shows.
    (SLO is about 3 hours drive south of the bay area, worth the drive compared to paying some schmuck $500 on ebay).

    I live in the Raleigh area, and I must suggest the Raleigh Grande. Stadium seating and surround sound. Good luck getting tickets everybody. I'll be up at the theatre at midnight with my thirteen year old brother, personally.

    Screw the hype; where's my movie?!

      It's the lights that really suck. They do it cause they have those really comfy "love seats" with raisable armrests, though. Those "snotty teenagers" would be all over each other if it weren't for the lights. Oh well... tradeoffs. I'll be catching it at the Wynnsong in Durham.

      This past Saturday my fiance and I went to Timberlyne in Chapel Hill, they were still selling advance tickets. We got two seats for a Thursday showing (ahh, what's one day??) for face value (ie: $6.50 each) with no line to wait in. Kinda shocked me :)

      Raleigh Grand *sucks*! The clientel is almost exclusively snotty-nosed high schoolers, they don't turn out the lights in the theaters, the sound is tinny at best, so on, so forth.

      When it comes to Star Wars, catch me at the newly remodeled Park Place 16. =)

    what's the bet that the queue at the linux expo on the thursday & friday nights will be half as bad as the crowds outside the theatres themselves...if i'm not doing complimentaries, i think i'll take a raincheck and sit it out until the hype dies down a little.
