DVD Decoder/Players for Linux?

Robotech_Master asks: "I have a Sony 5x DVD-ROM drive, and a Hollywood + decoder for it. At the moment, I have to boot to Windows to watch DVDs, and would rather not have to do that. Has anybody written H+-compatible drivers or software decoders for Linux? I'd prefer a hardware driver, but my C300A/450 with 192 megs of RAM is enough of a workhorse to do it in software if I had to. What issues are there that prevent people from writing such drivers? How can they be overcome? I expect that DVD-ROM programs for Linux will come about sooner or later, but the only way it can be sooner is if people get around to it... " Good point!
