GNU Tutorial Tool?

proBETA asks: "Is there a GNU tool for making tutorials? With a rising demand for documentation, a common tool would be great. So I just wonder if there are any such projects going on. How about recording and playback of X-windows (with mouse movement, typing, and graphics) along with explaining text boxes."
