What IP? "rectangular with rounded corners" is no IP, it's something that was around for thousands of years. (clay tablets, anyone?) Putting the screen more or less in the center was there before (just about any TV).
Apple did NOT invent the MP3 plaer. Apple dit NOT invent the smartphone. Apple did NOT invent the touch screen device.
Apple itself is only copying. Mouse? GUI? Design of iAnything?
Apple is not willing to pay for past use of somebody elses IP (current Motorola case in Germany), but everybody is supposed to respect Apples IP.
Apple is evil. I'm not saying that the other players aren't, too. But Apple is EVIL, and the worst of the bunch, in my book.
One more thing of note: it is the first (at least among those I know of) smartphone OS that has a special-purpose button to switch between apps, down there alongside "Back" and "Home".
The reason people hate IT is because the IT have this open and obvious hostility to users as evidenced in the earlier posts here.
Did you also see the open and obvious hostility and arrogance towards IT, also evidenced in earlier posts?
Most people who complain about IT only think about themselves and their job. They don#t give a fuck about how their wishes affect the rest of the company. IT has to balance those individual wishes with the interest of the corporation as a whole and with limited finances and so on.
But yeah, go on bitching about IT, rather than thinking outside your little box.
There you go. IT seems to strive to make THEIR job as easy as possible. Making everyone else's job easier?
Quite the opposite: A user that says 'I want x' is only thinking about making his own job easier. IT has to think about everybody: How does it affect the network all emplyoees share? What security risks are there? How is support financed and provided? Does IT have staff that knows how to support x? And so on.
Developers NEED admin rights to their own machines to function, the sooner you understand this the sooner we can all move forward.
No problem here. Go through the proper channels, sign the papers that you take responsibility for the stuff you fuck up with these elevated rights, and we set you up with admin rights. At least, that is the process at the company I work for.
But no, many of you don't want that, because you can't convince your superior that you actually need the admin rights... why is that? You rather call the helpdesk, try to sell us a story how you always had admin rights and they just got taken away and we HAVE TO give them back RIGHT NOW!
Basically, the EU courts care about basic rights, whereas the national courts care about either political agendas, or power.
At least here in Germany, that's not universally true. Quite a few courts here take the side of consumers/the people against the government or big corporations. Not all, thought. Some courts like those in Hamburg sometimes give the impression that they are in the pockets of the German equivalents of the MAFIAA.
It doesn't matter who was first, it matters that it will not take 2 years for Google (or somebody else) to come up with something that is similar enough to Siri.
Has there ever been a controversy about whether an invention using hardware circuits is patentable? I doubt it, even though hardware circuits are much like software in that they can be reduced to a mathematical algorithm.
So because the two things are similar in one respect they should be treated as if they are the same? My sister and I bear the same family name, so we are the same?
You mean Germany is not the country that got the new Wolfenstein game censored of all the nazi references?
See, that's the point. Your original statement was: 'The citizens are strictly forbidden to perform [...] depiction of svastikas no matter what context'. This statement is wrong. There are many situations were it is legal to show swastikas: Education, history, even movie and television.
Often, game publishers self-censor their games to avoid any trouble. Not sure if this was the case here or if the game actually was censored by the authorities.
You mean it isn't where most Anime shows on TV get cut up without care about plot-essential elements, to remove all controversial content?
Every country/culture has it's own set of moral standards. For us Germans it sounds stupid to not be allowed to drink alcohol in public, to have to carry booze in a paper bag, to censor every nipple on TV. On the other hand, we have stronger rules when it comes to violence, nazi symbols and ideologies, child protection.
Just taking one or two examples (and maybe even misrepresenting the facts) isn't enough to build a opinion. You have to look at the whole picture.
Opera Turbo was all about compressing when connections were slow, not saving processor cycles for complex content.
Opera Turbo on notebooks, desktops and high end smart phones is mostly about bandwidth reduction, yes. But before introduction of Opera Turbo Opera was already using this technology for Opera Mini.
And Opera Mini uses proxy server to render pages that the CPU in a feature phone or older smart phone can not do. AND reduce bandwidth.
My Archos 70IT came without the Google market, but now I am downloading apps from the Market, so... I'm pretty sure that one can get Google Market on the Amazon Kindle if so inclined;)
Apple does not only sell hardware, but also content (apps, music, movies, whatnot). So they still earn money from customers who do not buy a new phone. And they earn more if they make the new features available for those customers.
Most companies that sell Android ore Windows Phone devices do not offer any or much content, so they need the customers to buy hardware to earn money.
Apple has to sue them and protect their IP.

Strange. Google's picture search shows me several screenshots. One can clearly see that LiMux uses KDE.
I was under the impression that they were required to license all the standards-related patents under RAND terms.
Motorola is willing to do that.
But they are not willing to let Apple get away with using the technology without licensing it for several years.
Except this case started in 2007 or thereabouts, way before the split up of Motorola and Googles decision to buy one part of it.
But don't let the facts stop you from building you fantasy world.
Old news.
Cisco used the 'iPhone' trademark before Apple: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/burnette/ciscoapple-the-dog-that-did-not-bark-in-the-night/239?tag=content;siu-container

This one is already in Honeycomb.

Exactly! IT knows how to do my job better than I do.
No. But IT knows how your machine affects the rest of the network.
While you are only focused on yourself, IT has to keep the whole picture in mind.
Do you call IT support 'colleagues'?
Probably not.

Well, I do have more than 20.000 tracks in my collection.
But I need to clean that collection up anyway.
Google Music doesn't even work outside US, which is incredibly stupid as it is your own collection of music, not some streaming service.
I'm German, living in Germany and guess what?
I have Google Music on my Android phone... AND IT IS WORKING!!!
The web interface too.
Sure, I probably can not buy music via Google Music, but I don't need to. There are enough channels to get my music from.
Oh, and Spotify isn't available everywhere as well. And you seem to need a Facebook account, which I don't have nor want.
There ain't no arrogance like European arrogance.
'God's own country'
'nuf said.
Your missing the point.

Flawed logic at it's best.
Here: 1 person, 3 HTCs

Damn. Over the weekend I had moderation point but didn't use them, and now that I would like to moderate I can't :(
I might be wrong, but I seem to remember that the market share of Apple is higher in the US than in Europe...

Good to know.
