ummm...you miss his point. the article mentioned the rumor that Sony may use a modified version of the Linux kernel to run the PlayStation in a future rev. If they did that, then they would have to make all of their changes public. He was not talking about their game code.
Okay, look. I'm getting really tired of this "Oh, YOU hacked?". It's obvious from his message that he did. Hacking is a process of curiosity. It is the journey from not knowing to grokking. That's it, pure and simple. Jon hacked his Linux box into shape. He had some help, but now he knows more so that maybe next time he can do it without calling somebody. He hacked his wife's PC. He didn't know how to install the printer, but he explored and figured it out.
Here's to Jon, he's no longer a hacker virgin. He's scratching that itch real hard.
it says that a financial transaction has to take place first. AFAIK, mp3.com doesn't charge any money for downloading. Therefore it's a different process.
That's not to say that their claim is valid. Personally, they amuse me.
There has been a Linux port for the Tivoli Framework for more than a year now. It was done by a support engineer. I played with it a bit when I worked in support at Tivoli last year.
It works as well as any other Tivoli product on other platforms.
I agree. The term he should be using is "cracker". Unless he can get this fundamental bit of info correct, he doesn't belong here.

now we have mp3 companies fighting each other. why do i have a feeling that they are all going to miss out while they are whining in the court room?
the whining will more than likely stunt or kill the growth of mp3's move into the masses.
