Seriously though, I wish they would all stop trying to save people from themselves. I don't so much mind it when government institutes laws/regs to keep truly dangerous things from us. Example: I used to curse OSHA, but not since seeing industrial working conditions in countries that have no such regulatory body.
But, trying to save us from stupid things we might do only keeps our lawmakers from taking care of truly important business.
Yeah, I do this every time I run Skype, and then I double check that the block is unchecked by closing the options box and going back into it again. I exit Skype and then start it again, and that box is checked again!
They sell an unlimited service, and I was notified during the sign-up process that to allow use of my account by other people would violate the TOS and result in my account being canceled.
Now, if someone could just tell me how to keep Skype from setting itself to "Start with Windows" every time I run it, I'd be very grateful! Personally, I have more of a problem with this behavior, than them checking if I'm sharing my login.
There are so many stories of "inventions" that are withheld because of some "money-hungry corporation". I'm sure there are some cases where this is indeed the case.
But, isn't it really more likely that the reason most of these things are not in common use (water-injected engine, free energy, miracle cancer drugs, etc) is because they truly don't work effectively?
The CDL is a form of national drivers license for truckers that has been around for many years. It eliminated the widely varying state laws regulating commercial drivers, and also the tricks many used to get around violations on their records. By making it national, a trucker is not able to (for example) drop a FL license with 25 tickets on it to get a NY license with a clean driving record.
I realize that's not the reason for a national license under Real ID, but there are positives to linking driving records at least.
Just add fuzzy logic to your smart bomb and the blurry buildings are no problem at all!
