But it did work. It caught on through word of mouth and very intense advertising. It has made irrelevant the brick-and-mortar business model that Blockbuster survives on. Blockbuster just had an epiphany and said, "Wow.. we better get on this before it's too late."
Netflix was smart to patent its business model and process. It took many iterations to get the current mail system down the way Netflix has. Blockbuster simply copied the Netflix model and is now claiming that Netflix never had a right to it in the first place.
