Always funny these "too lazy to RTFA" comments which turn into a book themselves.

From TFA... (NGI is the kid) You must it is a great publicity move by his father. Also nice for the boy and a great way to get him involved/interested in Science. Contributions All authors assisted in the development and writing of the paper. In addition, the structural and kinematic properties of the dwarf population, and the significance of the Andromeda plane were determined by R.A.I., G.F.L. and A.R.C., based on distances determined by the same group (as part of the PhD research of A.R.C.). In addition, A.W.M. is the Principal Investigator of PAndAS; M.J.I. and R.A.I. led the data processing effort; R.A.I. was the Principal Investigator of an earlier CFHT MegaPrime/MegaCam survey, which PAndAS builds on (which included S.C.C., A.M.N.F., M.J.I., G.F.L., N.F.M. and A.W.M.). R.M.R. is Principal Investigator of the spectroscopic follow-up with the Keck Telescope. M.L.C. and S.C.C. led the analysis of the kinematic determination of the dwarf population, and N.F.M. led the detection of the dwarf population from PAndAS data. N.G.I. performed the initial analysis of the satellite kinematics.

  4. Re:"among" the best?? on Canada's Internet Among Best, Report Says · · Score: 1

The Financial Post newspaper is one of the lowest forms of media on the planet, right next to British tabloids

That doesn't place slashdot editors very high in this case.

  5. "among" the best?? on Canada's Internet Among Best, Report Says · · Score: 2

I imagine this could be news of a local Canadian newspaper but Slashdot... Why?? I am from the Netherlands and live in Switzerland, both of which are "among" the best in terms of internet by some arguable measure, like Canada. The only newsworthy fact would perhaps be some nice ranked list but the article refers only to some Excel sheets, which place Canada far from number one. Better info can be found on Wikipedia.

Robert A. Heinlein, in his 1950 essay "Where to?" mentioned as a law of nature that a nine-day wonder is taken as a matter of course on the tenth day, and Frederic Brown, in his 1954 story "Preposterous" told of a man who lives in a future so advanced even we haven't gotten there, and that man took for granted things like the "Fourth Martian War" and the "Immortality Center" who ridiculed science fiction and at the end of the story, "he quirtled."

He did what? Sorry, English isn't my native language but "quirtled" only gets 9 google hits. If that's a real word you've a googlewhack as quirtled immortalitx! (y=x, not to destroy it prematurely)
