This is terrible. Never trust the crowds, you'll end up with McCarty style witch hunts.

Once again, Tesla is also not a pioneer (electric cars have been around for much, much longer than Tesla), therefore the original post is moot.

Then by your standards, Tesla is definitely NOT revolutionary. They did not invent the electric car, far, far, far from it. Therefore, if the original post is correct, it's irrelevant because it does not apply to Tesla Motors.

"His contribution to society is really not that significant." Define significant. Did the Mona Lisa solve world peace, discover electricity? No, but it was significant, from both a cultural and artistic viewpoint. The human condition drives us to find heroes, those who we feel deserved to be revered, Michael was someone who deserved this hype. Michael's dance and music was, and is significant, there was something about it that attracted and mesmerized millions of people. Don't belittle him. I assure you he has accomplished more than you ever will.

Yes but then you're throttling. The whole point is to not throttle the bandwidth, to somehow make it so that the client can download at full speed yet still be able to fit the network traffic of other applications. If you throttle the Bittorrent client then you end up downloading at a slower rate, then your downloads finish slower, etc.

I live in China and cellphone service is dirt cheap there. I use a prepaid service, and one SMS is about 1 cent. However, China IS a communist country and the cellphone service IS monopolized. Yes, there is one company (China Telecom) that controls roughly 90% of the market. There is a competitor, China Unicom, but they control a minuscule part of the market. We also use the SIM card system where people can take their cellphone to any other provider... but we only have one provider... However, I can take my cellphone and go to Taiwan and retain functionality using another Sim card. Nothing is locked. We also get the latest phones from Japan, Korea, and Europe =).
