This article tacks hard into an undermining trait around here. It talks about setuid and chmod in terms of privileged escalation for non root users. I was talking to a friend of mine the other day about the aspects of this problem.
I hope someone reads this, and takes away the basic reality of what's happening.
Microsoft has between 60 and 70 thousand employees. Who enjoy great benefits including salary. They receive between 45 to 60 thousand job applications per month. Many people who work there are quite excited and satisfied to have a great job working with a company that makes between 13 and 14 billion dollars in profit annually.
So enjoy the simplicity of what I have to say. The Microsoft Windows operating system was introduced almost 15 years ago and has enjoyed 10 or so versions since that time w/ numerous subversions and revisions. Microsoft is a huge infrastructure company with tens of thousands of partners who contribute global solutions that seemingly could meld together to revolutionize the world over.
So how is it, given all these attributes and experience can a company who mainly specialize in a single core product spend an entire 5 years to release a product that only works on half of all PCs? A product that has people screaming incompatibility, refund, and not to mention curses in disgust at their wasted money and disappointment. Where have peoples minds gone? And why can't people tally the obvious facts of the matter?
Why do the local news consumer revenge reporters go after Joe Sixpack down the road for ripping off some poor ol' lady, when
Microsoft is stealing money on a daily basis with software that doesn't work and sports a 'no refund policy'. How can it be that the minimum requirements are met or exceeded, but the performance is far below stellar, whereby you actually pay again (for an upgrade) to have an improved 'Vista Experience'.
Truly, Neanderthals would be able to see the strange injustice in these matters.

So if this so called 'pen tester in a pocket' is 2500+ dollars, then what in the hell do you call a PocketPC or PDA running MiniStumbler written by Marius Milner? Besides a 2300+ dollars less costing pen tester that is.

When I first glanced at this Slash heading I was hoping to see some reality regarding the release of this console.
As per the geek factor (gaming waste life's--yes I used to be one) you get the usual percentages on most coveted or most played game(s). And as per the usual IT bulls$*t; The coffee talk about numbers of some mega lo corporation! It's so annoying these days... It's like technology and industry have truly binded and the result is a bunch of geeks talking about how much money Sony made this quarter or what market blunders they've committed. WHO CARES!
Here's the REAL reason why this console was the worst in history. People like you and me were beaten, stabbed and SHOT at because people are so enamored by trying to either firstly acquire -a- gaming console for play or resell it for big profits. It is absolute insane that nobody has given it anymore attention other than "lol, dude got busted up waiting inline for a ps3>what a n00b"
Wake up man, WAKE UP.
It has to be noted that commericals are fundamentally fake!... Its the very basis that they stem from!...
The commercial scheme is to try and seemingly 'appear' as a third party noting the supreme benefits of a product from a consumered perspective. An actor who is supposed to generically represent an ideal version of joe six pack, aka an idealized 'one of us'.
The sheered reality is the fact that a company is paying for a slick campaign to make themselves look great.....Seriously, I know how so far obvious this seems, but the real end result is consumers enamored by a wow effect that hit the store shelves. (!?)
The more I see postings giving way to logic like this, the less faith I inturn reserve for the human race!:|
Ok.. so we all know that commercials are already sophisticated, deviant, and fake... right?

I'm not going for points on this. But in reply I'll say: Use a little common sense and understand that they want to relate general data to the public (for various reasons, including the PR and yay for consumers feedback they just received) and you can bet your last dollar that the companies purchasing this information will get a goddamned detailed report on what it is people are and aren't using. Statistics like this are gold to fortune companies and you're looking for a point by point? Think like a drone not a person!:)
