That is the gist of what came across. Maybe because you started with "the JVM sucks". That doesn't make the impression of a well balanced view, you know.
The JVM has some questionable and maybe even insulting characteristics, but saying it sucks is unreasonable.

Maybe you just forgot to mention that while LuaJIT speeds up Lua execution, it also doubles its startup time. The JVMs JIT however, doesn't affect startup time at all.

When comparing the relative performance improvements of the JITs, note that the JVM is playing in an entirely different league performance-wise, JIT or not.

I think that a good programmer would know when to choose Lua and when to choose the JVM. He would probably be able to argue for and against each option and decide which one is better suited for a particular case.

Flex Builder 3 has support for deep links (they were possible before, but now it's in the framework), so a link from a search result directly to the searched item should be possible.

You may want to take a closer look at why Flash is slow for you. The player is really fast. It's a decent virtual machine and graphics engine. If you have a flash 9 plugin, take a look at this page: http://papervision3d.org/ It's a 3d engine with texturing support that's usable on a current computer. It is impossible to touch that performance using a web browser without plugins. Flash is only slow if it's used in a stupid way (playing multiple video ads on a page) or programmed for by incompetent people (hobby coders, designers).

I believe that Flash is a good platform, but as long as a single company can run it all into the ground, we can't rely on it. What is really missing is an open source flash player (Gnash is not good enough, I want Adobe to open up the player).

The best way to increase the google page rank of a site is to get a site with a better page rank to link to it. Usually, you either have to pay for a link that makes a difference on your page rank, or you just get linked because your content is valuable. Because paid links corrupt the page rank algorithm and in effect make a search engine less usable, google is actively working against them.

Mr. Eash is trying to increase the page rank of his web site.
