Thats funny, I recently complained to a US based, MidPhase about some Chinese scam site, uer168(dot)com. I noticed some similarity in the domain with the uc8010(dot)com domain from the article. The whois data is also much alike, at least the registrar is Xin Net Technology Corp. for both.

So far Midphase has refused to take the scam site off line, even though it's seems these Chinese crackers are affiliated.

Lol, I knew I would get some nasty grammar/spelling nazi comment, FYI I am a native Dutch speaker and am quite happy with my level of understanding of the english language. Also I am happy to be able to speak and understand german and understand and speak some french.

So dear AC, shut up and stick it where the sun don't shine.

  4. Polished and shinny shit on The Death of High Fidelity · · Score: 1

I've noticed with quite a few bands that with there early work there great. Then they sign up with some big label and there songs get produced and mastered to shit, polished and shinny shit.

Take the band Hole for example, there first album "Pretty on the inside" is very nice. It's loud and noisy and rough, produced by Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth) and Don Fleming, had one engineer and was released by Caroline Records.

There last album, "Celebrity Skin", would be the polished and shinny shit I was talking about. This album has been released by Geffen Records and produced by well quite some more people then "Pretty on the inside"... I'm quite sure this huge list of producers, engineers, mixers an masters are responsible for the horrible end result.

You can check Wikipedia on this. Next time you find a band you like has started to sound very crappy once they became more popular, you know what happened.

Does this "Cloud computing" require "Tags" in anyway? I mean were talking "Web 2.0" right, someone did mention this in the "Blogosphere"?!

Either way, as long as this stuff does not run on a "Hypervisor" I don't want anything to do with it!

  10. Realy... on Why Are CC Numbers Still So Easy To Find? · · Score: 1

What's up with Americans and their idiot credit card payment system. Here's how we do it where I live. The user has a online banking account which is protected by a password and ssl encryption. Once the user clicks to pay the site redirects to the bank. The user puts in the password and gives a ok for the payment. To confirm the payment the bank sends a code to the mobile phone of the user. The user enters the number and gives a final ok and gets redirected back to the original site. The agreed amount is instantly written of the users banking account. And remember it's a debit account not credit, so no risk in spending money you don't have. Sure it isn't full proof, but it is way better than some number anyone who gets his hands on it can abuse.

I work for a small ISP, we deliver the new DSL connections with a routed modem and build in firewall and a anti-virus scanner. Telling the users in the install guide they firstly have to install the anti-virus software before connecting the modem. Seems to work quite well, I never got any complaints of spam comming from our network.

In contrast the larger ISP I worked for before would deliver bridged modems and no anti-virus software or firewall. There were many spam related complaints from third parties, blaster infections where abundant, the network was basically one big botnet.
