    dear anonymous coward,
i love you, you are the only one who seems to see whats going on here. simple put, THEY WERE NOT IN THE SAME ROOM AS THE PLUG, and have gone to jail for it. does anybody see how rediculous that is? i hope so. i think that the university should be disenrolled from its self for being run by morons.

  2. i agree with OSU on Four Arrested For Internet 'Theft' At OSU · · Score: 3

they should be kicked out of school. i mean, it makes sense that they should be aressted for using 280 feet more ethernet cable than they usuall do, especially if they are paying for the service! not only this, but they were suppling other people on the floor a valuable service without the university's consent, and for those of us who do go, or have gone to universities, know that there are rules against things that may be convenient. for example, eastern michigan university (my uni) knocked out the elevator service to walton hall after they discovered that it was more conveninant for the smokers on the top floor to use it then to go down 5 flights of stairs. but the fact that these people would have the nerve to help out the people in their hall and to attempt to raise their quality of life, without braking any laws is unexcusable! OSU should fry these fuckers.

or they could let them go and owe them a HUGE apology....

if you want to bash someone or their products, i say run for office. i think that the boys at slashdot would agree that slashdot is not about ripping down windows but that its about the evolution of technology and the sociaty that surrounds that technology.

it is true that we support and favor one set of code over another. it is true that we enjoy the freedoms that the code we support allows. but the truth of the matter is that there are too many people out there bragging about how there system doesn't use windows, or trying to rip down windows that we lose site off our actual goal, and thats to make Linux a top notch OS, one that is compatible with all major hardware, one that runs reliable, quality software, and one that is stable enough and simple enough to use on a wider scale.

if all of the people out there who have nothing better to do than bash other peoples code were to go and buy a book on C and write something, the windows you so hate wouldn't stand a chance at all. there are to many people talking, and not enough people doing. it was winston churchill who said, "give us the tools, and we'll finish the job." we have the tools, now its time to go to work.

if anybody cares to voice an opinoin on this id apreciate a mail, my address is up there.

  9. open windows code spells death for linux community on Will Microsoft Open Windows Source Code? (No!) · · Score: 1

The very reason that many people join open source communtiies is so that they can work with what they love. programming is what these people love to do and untill now the UNIX clones have had the market for these people. With the opening of Windows source code it is entirely conceiveble that support for the open source movement will dimisish is support of developing Windows clones. Since Microsoft already holds most of the home user operating system market, people who could sell knock-off versions of Windows would have a great economical advantage. The thing that scares me the most is that people lose sight of the fact that the whole reason that we do what we do with open source is because the source has never been closed, it was not opened to remain the dominate figure in the market, but rather as a moral choice and that if people do lose sight of these fundimental reasonings, that our cuase might be thrown to the way side in favor of the almighty bick.

  13. What happens now... on Microsoft == Monopoly says Judge · · Score: 1

It was ineveitable that microsoft would be found o be a monopoly. This fact is undisputed by anybody except the lawyers at MS. The important thing is what happens now. If MS is alloud to settle it will just be proof to the business world that the DOJ can be bought out at the first sign of trouble. In the old days of trust busting when a company was found to be a trust then they were broken up or forced to sell assets to the point where they were on a level with their "compitition". The solution that seems to be the most likely to succeed is to aply the "Bell" method to MS. It lays in the hands of the DOJ to do the right thing and brake Microsoft like they did to Bell, JP Morgen and many others. Either force MS to sell of parts of the company or brake it up into "Baby-Bills". At any rate if the man in the drivers seat knows what up then he'll do the right thing or else it won't be long before we see the same headlines.
