I don't know that I would consider humankind a "feature". Humankind is more like a virus.
It started small, grew quickly and started using all system resources to the point where the system can barely sustain itself. Operations start to slow down to a crawl and weird things start to happen in the system until one day the operator decides it's time to rebuild...
