Hank showed me MATRIX just a few short weeks after the 9/11 attacks. Using law enforcement data and commercial data, all of the commercial data available in the public domain, Asher's query produced [hijacker Mohamed] Atta's photo -- and about 80 others, many of them fellow 9/11 hijackers, many of them associates of the 9/11 hijackers. It was simple data mining and algorithms, and none of the information was obtained illegally."
I smell bullshit... think they did know before hand and are just saying this now to scare people into accepting complete (spying) monitoring of all net userÅ
LOL nice social engineering to find yourself a girlfriend that actually gives a shit about what you do; specifically.
Those are hard to find, usually they don't want to hear about "all that computer stuff" but you need to listen to them and there project runway bs.
Kudos if it works !
Well I can say that on occasion, I take Modafainil (Provigil) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modafinil It is supposed to only be prescribed for narcoleptic and shift workers. I fall into the second group. It gives you good mental energy even if you only slept 3-4 hours the night before. Although I find using it more than a few times a month causes it to looses it's effectiveness, Ginkgo Biloboa + Running (cardio exercise) seem to help my memory and concentration, Also L-theanine is great with caffeine (like green tea) because you get the stimulant effect without the jitters. In college I would take 1/2 of and adderal sometimes to study it really helped, but it wa as if I was "borrowing" my focus from the next two days. I Always felt sluggish and slow for 2 days after the adderal but that is amphetamine. There is a new class of non-jittery stims out there. They do work but are not sustainable if that makes sense,

Not forever, but math books, and even computer programming books. (PASCAL, etc) are god for a long time and cheaper. How are theses kids going to get on the net? Even years from now?. Also why do you think thy would rather learn from the computer than play with it, or collect dust. I know Dvrok is always trolling, that is his job but every once in a while I agree.
Priorities are not in line, these people first need better schools, teachers, clean water food etc. Many will like the"toy: laptop, maybe a very small percent will learn some skills (programming) but I think the money could be used better, ie Dafur. People are starving and were giving out cheap laptops, it's going to be hard to also supply free Internet. The project has the best of intentions and Mr. Negroponte[sp?] is doing something respectable but, prioritize. This should come later, but that money towards books that can be re-used forever, or to make living conditions better. Some countries like Mexico maybe I can see this working, but poor African kids? You can hope that it will open their minds up to unlimited information but,..seriously you guys...
OT:
He did donate billions to charity that Gates made off of the technically illegal monoply. Do you think this has done more harm or good, stifled innovation in computing, helped the world in other ways, Think if it was Larry Ellison running MSFT, that greedy prick would not give a dime away and would be using same anti-competitive stategies.
Perhaps the "secret" in ie 8 is that it ties into Sharepoint, OCS etc, the whole.net 3.0 bs & live services, they want you to think your running windows on your [symbian, linux, java, etc] mobile device. Web Servies need to be open and inter operable, hope Android makes MSFT's plan for live services harder.
Hate to play devils advocate but I think with ie 7 they have made much improvement, especially as far as speed and memory, Firefox is getting to the point it's to bloated, memory leaks etc, sometimes When I have 5-10 tabs open my computer crawls. too many built in "features" that should be add-ons The "Zones" for trusted sites in IE drives me nuts though, there should be 2 trusted and blocked. You should be able to choose the default out of those 2 options (to block everything not white listed or allow everything not blacklisted). The reason I use firefox (on windows)is not because it doesn't use much memory (uses more IMO and is slower) but because of Adblock Plus, and no "Zones" or Active X bs , Active X should only be used for one thing
Windows Update, get rid of trusted zones. Opera has both beat with memory and speed , even built in torrent downloader (which is kind of sucky IMO.) On windows however, Opera is the fastest and uses the least memory
my conscious is clear using a TPB torrented copy. Someday when I am working fulltime, done with school I will pay for it.
damn what a waste, this is why private companies will out grow NASA in the future, you can launch a shutle in Kazzakstan/Russian border for 1/10 the price, ??? I think NASA has an important job but sometimes I think the whole program should just be cut because it's just SO wasteful, this is a perfect example. What has NASA done that is SO important with let's say, their last 100,000,000 dollars sspent? what have they achieved. You could feed a lot of hungrey people with that money or... ? have parties?
What would be even cooler, IMO if it was embedded with VMWARE Virtual Infrastructure. Still, anybody know if this chipset will support ESX VI? (weould use (iSCSI SAN) Been looking to get some 'high end" equiptment that will run many VM's at once.
Preferably building it. Yeah sorta of topic...
so atleast I am assuming that current Linux kernel supports this? or is the "embedded linux" highly modified? Either way , kewlness if I can get it for under $4000 with 4 GB DDR3 SAS RAID etc. Also RAID (real raid not software/cheap) would be awesome, couldn't find that info.....
Maybe I should stick to Xeon/opteron for now.

Recently i was in Toronto. I live in Savannah Georgia and have comcast. I have about 500 channels, maybe 3-4 are good. In Canada, there were only about 30 channels, BUT almost all of them were actaually GOOD. Even the Comedy Network (not comedy central) plays funny stuff like Daily Show, Colbert, South Park etc. Then when those STUPID comedy central movies comes on, it cuts too Family Guy , The Simpsons etc would come one. We don't need MORE channels just BETTER ones!! There are too many it takes forever to find anything good on!
Jeff
Always hated downloading the "restriced" modules & using Automatix2, which OT, I have found can really break Ubuntu.
so how would you install the OSS version ? is it in Ubuntu Repositories [non restrcited]?
Jeff
Well, I am not sure, but I have heard, that It's good to set the refresh rate to 72Hz for watching movies because 3 * 24 = 72 so every 3 refresh cycles the movie syncs with the HDTV. Setting it at 60hz they don't sync. Luckily I have an HDTV 42" that supports
72 Hz at 1080p and doubles as a computer monitor. Highly recomended Westinghouse, the only thing I ever got at best buy for a good price (was an "open box" deal.. Anyway my point.. Set your HDTV/Monitor to 72 Hz so it will sync up with 24 fps movies..
This is interestig to me, let me see how much a hd-dvd BURNER costs, then i can download.iso imgaes of HD-DVD (of course legalally distributed documentary / nature type stuff;-) The BBC "Planet Earth" looks AWESOME when i input from my computer to the HDTV throughtt the VGA/DVI port. I have never really looked to see how many titles are available for HD-DVD how much do they usually costs? Also does Netflix/Blockbuster have the titles available in big enough quantities? Also, I usually don't watch many Action Movies or CGI stuff mainly comedy and drama so not sure 1080P is really neccesary, Not intersted in Pirates of the Caribbean 3 , finding Nemo etc..
Jeff
Peronally I think this is scare tactics, I have read things from the Bush Administration to the effect of "we need terrorist threats to increase the administrations popularity" Now they can up the "threat" level and all the canidates (which ever one is pre-picked to win IMO) can talk about how we need to do more to keep the "war on Terror" This is like all the "foiled bombing attempts" Remember the mixing of the liquids - and subsequent ban on liquids at Heathrow Airport? Do you REALLY believe that terrorist were about to blow up a bunch of airplanes? USA et al ARE the terrorist in many situations IMHO they made it up so it would look like were doing well with "The War on Terror" Seriously, you guys it's the "we haven't done enough against terrorism" meanwhile the goverment are terroizing it's citizens..
A theory.. but not too far fetched.

Ubuntu Feisty Fawn - Was the quickest , easiest, and most user friendly linux I have ever installed.
All the drivers and hardware were detected and "just worked" In 15 minutes I was up, ran Automtix2 to get all the codecs and extra programs (flash java etc) IT was so easy Nvidia graphics card and Wi-fi worked with no configuration, no cd's to install, it just detected the hardware and worked. Nothing to do with marketing (that's Redhat non Linux people have heard of Redhat - they don't know what the * "Ubuntu Feisty Fawn is ) IT was SO easy. I have been using Linux since 1999 and it has really progressed, grandma REALLY could install this and have it work, it's easier than windows even , no extra cd's to install no serial #'s, Windows Genuine BS. Just a quick stable polished looking OS. Since i put my Ubuntu machine on a line conditioner it has not crashed once in over 3 months of uptime (when i got the line conditioner because I have "dirty electricity" in this condo. Any one who is a beginner to Linux, this is easy to use with the GUI, Automatix2 installs all the extra stuff you need, and you can do advanced CLI stuff too, I built a LAMP stack from source code, also Asterisk from Source. Really it was much easier , and there is documentation for just about anything Ubuntu related.
Jeff
My first IT job, went to a school that was partly funded by U.M. and ended up getting my first IT job at U.M. when i was 16.. man that job was awesome, low stress, nice work environment.. all good things come to an end i guess.
They used to run SCO Open Server Netware and Windos 95. Luckily i never had to use SCO...

type "SOLF" into google, it brings up solarfun's web page, this is a company i have invested money into!!! This does not look good, atleast I sure hope it's accurate, i emailed the PR and IR people. Still If it's not right, then it could cause damage, or suppose someone wanted to sabotage your business, is there some way they can make google warn people to not even visit the site as a way of corporate sabotage? Terrible for business (at SOLF at least)!!
