A Camera! There are very few cellphone models that do not include a camera. If you work at a facility where no cameras are allowed, yet you need cellular voice & text messaging there are d@#n few options available. If only the keyboard and small screen weren't so good at "creating a negative pressure differential over deceased game fowl".

  2. DRM free and working fine - Baen Publishing on Why eBook DRM Has To Go · · Score: 1

Baen Publishing has been DRM free for its ebooks for more than a decade. And even gives some books away free via the Baen Free Library. Here are Eric Flint's arguments for that model from 2000: http://www.baen.com/library/intro.asp DRM free texts from Baen have encouraged me to try authors I may not have otherwise and Flint, Ringo and Weber are all authors whose hard back books I've purchased after I've started reading a series via their ebooks. In fact, in the case of those 3 authors I tend to own both the physical & ebook version of each of thier books. I refuse to purchase either Apple or Amazon players/readers because I want to own the books and music I purchase, not pay for just a license to use as long as those corporations maintain servers to authorize my access. I have moved my ebook purchases from Baen across 5 personal computers running different versions of Windows & Linux, across 3 different portable reading platforms Palm Vx, Windows mobile & now Android.

  3. The Rights of Man ... on Italy Votes To Abandon Nuclear Power · · Score: 1

Should not be subject to popular vote. "While democracy should trump all" is why the United States of America reformed in 1789 under a constitutionally limited government in the form of a republic where the representatives were elected by popular vote and the senators were essentially ambassadors from the States. The Bill of Rights was added to the body of the constitution to make explicit the boundaries which the government was not to cross. Unfortunately many of the citizens of these united states have cooperated or even encouraged the coopting of our constitutionally protected rights. Examples of this coopting, even explicit suborning of the clear wording of the Bill of Rights by our elected officials and even worst by the State and Federal judges whose primary purpose should be the protecting of our rights can be seen at such places as www.theagitator.com and waronguns.blogspot.com and www.photographyisntacrime.com.

I want the blinking ones to mean that something is happening, like disk drive lights, address/databus lights... But then what can you expect from a person who's first home computer was a PDP-11/35? Blinking lights are good. If something doesn't have any lights on then I figure its alright to pull the power cord. :)

  5. Actually F14:Re:F16 Software had similar problems on Software Bug Halts F-22 Flight · · Score: 1

I believe that it was actually the F14. About 1987. And it was during a Carribean area exercise that a F14 Tomcat, while on autopilot crossed the equater. During the programming of the little idiot cpu in the autopilot the data type used was unsigned. Apparently it was quite a surpise to the pilot & nav when they suddenly found themselves upside. The problem was reproduced in the simulators in Indianapolis and a fix was delivered just about as fast as the drink that pilot and his nav probably needed. MichaelG

  6. Re:How many people have an HDTV without Broadband? on Where Are All of the HDTV Tuners? · · Score: 1

I have a HDTV & broadband. But the couple of HD channels available from Charter Cable is just not worth the price. But I kept my VOOM box and used it to watch the Superbowl, PBS and 24. One of these days the Dish HD DVR pkg will convince me to pay even more to watch TV so that I can go back to watching Battlestar Galatica in HD via the Universal channel. Until then, OTA works for me. Too bad a storm messed up my roof antenna and now I use an indoor one.
