how is this different from any other application that uses a mouse and might need a mouse_move event when the button is not clicked? if flash is "fundamentally flawed" for this, then so is every other application that uses a mouse. title should be "why is software fundamentally flawed on touchscreen devices" (answer: it's not; just learn how to program without the mouse hover event)
or if the thing is so freakisly accurate, they could control the size of the beam so that the body of the mosquito would absorb all the light, and your eyes would be covered by the mosquito's "shadow".
It'd be nice if they could determine the distance and somehow manipulate the cycles of the laser to only burn at that specific distance, so it doesn't endanger other targets in the laser's line of sight (such as my balls).
Turning PCs into consoles? That won't happen easily in the RTS genre because the controls are so different.
That's what we used to say about FPS games, and now everybody is playing fps with a joystick. The Wii and DS already have a mouse, and for the next generation of consoles everyone else will have some kind of pointer too. Sucks, but it'll happen eventually.
the closest aliens are at least thousands of light years away, they haven't "missed" our radio signals, they still haven't heard them yet. And they'll have like 100 years of signals to figure us out.
why not just put some windows on one screen and some windows on another screen? it doesn't matter if the window manager considers it "one workspace", it'll still be 2 workspaces because they'll be on different physicals screens in real life.
the only reason to use spaces is to impose your indenting style on others. if "some lines have spaces", it's your fault for using spaces instead of tabs. stop it, and everyone will be happy.
tabs can be displayed any way you like. if you indent with 4 spaces, the tab can be 4 spaces. if you indent with 9 spaces, the tab can be 9 spaces. everyone can configure their own editor the way they like it. if you use spaces, you're forcing your own indenting preference (which is probably stupid and ugly) on everyone else.
why the need for a 3D tv if you already have to wear glasses? can't a normal tv show a picture that can be filtered by 2 different lenses, like regular film projectors do for 3d movies?
on any other platform, you wouldn't need to remove software from "Droid09", your overlord would remove it for you, along with any other subversive material that might be on the device that you're borrowing from them
That doesn't change the fact that I can walk up to your mailbox and leave an envelope with a fake return address, because your mailbox doesn't have a magical "government employee detector" that only allows mail delivery from certain people. It's not something that is built into the system; the law works on a completely different level. Just like SMTP, which allows anyone to deliver mails, and then people implement security measures on different layers (like spam filters, digital signatures, etc).
SMTP works like real mail. Anyone can walk up to your mailbox and leave an envelope addressed to you from "Bill Gates". Unless you know how to look for signs that it was properly handled by the post service, you have no idea if it's real or not. We've known this since around 2400BC (because wikipedia says so).
no. people want what they want, and people expect to have what they CAN have. before there was electricity, people had to wait for ships to bring newspapers from europe with the latest news (from 6 months ago). If they had a telegraph installed right into their living room, would they still go to the docs every day? people CAN have tv shows, and that's why they want them from Hulu. And if Hulu won't give it to them, somebody else will.
am I the only one who went to facebook and was disappointed when the "filter by location" thing returned on results on Sharon Jackson from tennessee? I wanted to poke her (can you even poke random people who aren't your "friends"? I don't even know, this is the first time I intentionally go to facebook hoping I'll find something interesting there)
Rapidshare is a central source, that stores the actual illegal data, and even charges money for it. How are they better protected than "bittorrent", which is not even a real target? Apart from the "activism" side of it, nobody gives two shits about The Pirate Bay being shot down. Anyone can setup a webserver in their basement that serves a bunch of links, but who can recreate rapidshare if it goes down?

it wouldn't be modern slashdot if they didn't spelled out all the technical stuff for you constantly.
you can change workspaces by turning your head and looking at the other monitor. the workspaces actually exist physically as 2 different screens.
I'm always kind of confused when computer people want to do stuff through the computer when it already exists in real life.

Why would "free and open dissemination of information" be controlled by anyone? how can it be "free and open" and "controlled" at the same time?
while you were processing the numbers? did you use Microsoft(TM) Windows(R) Moviemaker(C) to make the Youtube(TM) video?
I got them all from Project Gutenberg. And kudos for getting the word "upon" into the summary.

will it be able to leverage the synergies of social media 2.0 user-facing semantics?
Nothing of value was lost.

from that description, it sounds like a website. Why bother making a whole app when the web browser already exists, and it's open and standard?

thus making it completely useless for piracy

next thing you know, they'll be forcing construction workers to wear hard hat and astronauts to wear space suits. It's a slippery slope people!
