  1. What about overseas purchases? on Congress Reconsiders Internet Sales Tax · · Score: 1

Some of these companies are no more than a warehouse and a webserver. If this bill passes, what's to stop these companies from moving their warehouse and server out of the country. And would you still have to pay internet sales tax for a purchase made in Mexico? The company certainly wouldn't have to pay the U.S. government, since it's located in another country, would it? Just some things to think about SuperBeast

  2. Makes you wonder on eToys Inc. Drops etoy Suit - For Real This Time · · Score: 1

Gee, it seems that this lawsuit lasted just about as long as the holiday shopping season. Could it be that etoys filed suit to keep holiday shoppers from wandering onto etoy's site and then going to toysrus.com because they couldn't find etoys? And now the case has been dropped, if etoys was really in this for copyright infringement wouldn't they have pressed the case further?

  3. Oh no, not again on Warner Music and EMI Set to Merge · · Score: 1

I don't know what anyone else thinks, but all these mergers are starting to get really big and really ugly. Is there any end in sight?

  4. There are plenty to choose from on Top Ten Geeks of the Millennium? · · Score: 1

I think these guys should definately make it on the list:

    Einstein
    Stephen Hawking
    Alan Turing
Thomas Edison - True geek, he slept under his workbench : )
    Sigmund Freud

P.S. I can't think of any female geeks, could someone help me out?

  5. How popular are they? on 3Com Files to Spin Palm Division Off in IPO · · Score: 1

Hmmm, this sounds interesting, but the main question is, are they getting rid of it because it's losing money, or are they spinning it off because, it's gotten too big for them to handle, or because they have other interests they wish to pursue instead? Anybody got more info on this?

  6. This is definately a good thing on Apology to Readers, Corel, et al. · · Score: 1

I am glad to see that at least /. can admit to their readers that they may have mistakenly reported false information. Now if we could only get the rest of the media to do the same...

  7. Re:What's happened to PC Mag? on Are Computer Magazines Dead? · · Score: 1

I also agree on the recent decline in PC Mag's content, including the reviews. I used to look forward to getting my monthly edition (which shows you how much of a life i really have;) but this year i cancelled my subscription, and continued getting PC World. I'm sure after not too long though I will be doing the same with PC World. Personally, i think a slashdot magazine, written by the subscribers would be a pretty good idea :)
