This has something to do about an article posted a while back. Laser pointers were banned because they could be directed at planes/helicopters and distract the pilots. I think that was the gist anyway...
They will push Vista as hard as they can, as soon as they can. Its nice to appear friendly to the XP clients in the meantime, but in the end they want to make sure every computer now comes equipped with their latest VistaWare.
They might be able to detect where the normal and hidden partitions are located on the disk by looking at read/write patterns, but I don't believe this would enable them to break the cypher
