    LOL...

No sir...there simply is NO PRODUCT from Microsoft called Microsoft SQL Server 2003. Sorry.

Also, a "few dozen" is hardly "a few", unless we are talking about a few dozen out of thousands of licenses. When the BSA is involved, it is because of EGREGIOUS issues involving compliance. THe company I work for was involved with the BSA and nothing of what "Mr. Ball" detailed had occurred. THere were no "damages" and all we had to do was "true up" what was missing, which was more than just "a few dozen" missing licenses. I question the math Mr. Ball used and I also question what really happened on his side. This is a one-side-only story.

Earn credibility...research your examples. There is no such thing as Microsoft SQL Server 2005. I don't want your beer. Also, this is for people/companies who STEAL software, not for people/companies who are "a few licenses" out of compliance.

If you modify how the phone is supposed to work, why would the vendor have any responsibility in repairing what YOU did to the phone? The fact that the phone is not working is not the fault of the vendor, it is the fault of the consumer. I am sure that the warranty is clearly voided when you perform the hacking that occurred that made the phone unlocked. Additionally, you KNEW the phone was locked only to the AT&T phone service. Don't play dumb. If you are smart enough to unlock your own phone or even find someone who can unlock it for you, you were smart enough to know that the phone was locked in the first place AND you should be smart enough to know that by hacking the phone, you voided the warranty. This isn't news.

Reactive Patching is NOT the same as writing secure code and does NOT equal a Secure Browser. The FF folks seem to want it both ways...bash other browsers for being insecure and looking the other way when FF flaws are exposed. The "award-winning browser" is worse than ever. You can no longer browse the web with confidence assuming Firefox protects you from viruses, spyware or pop-ups. You'll be lucky if you enjoy performance improvements, ease of use or even privacy. It's easier than ever to lose your favorites and settings, and have to start again. I can go on and on and on. I'll stick with Opera, thanks.

I know better than to get into an argument with an uninformed, opinionated zealot. I wish that people like you would see the damage that you are doing to the Open Source movement. I, for one, am disappointed in this kind of mindset in that it is slowing down the process of actually showing people the benefits of open source. There is no chance in hell that open source software will be any more than a novelty or a niche player unless the attitudes of our community change. I, for one, do not welcome this type of "education". Hopelessly gullible? If the shoe fits... Don't Be A Zealot

Unfortunately, your analogy makes no sense whatsoever. They applied for a patent erroneously, they didn't steal something from someone. Then, they retracted the patent application. To say that "this sort of thing" is the "MAIN" reason...wow...come on. If this is what drives you to not want to live in the same world as with a M$ product, that seems like a reach. M$ and Open Source can and will coexist peacefully in this world, unless attitudes like this prevail. Again, I say, open your mind and stop curtailing our movement. I don't want to be lumped in with a crowd of nitpickers and what not. Don't Be A Zealot

...that people actually place bids days or hours before an auction even ends. You are only essentially bidding against yourself because you are giving someone the opportunity the chance to outbid you. I've bought SO many items by bidding with less than 30 seconds left. The chance of an overbid is miniscule and the shill bid wouldn't apply. Wake up, people.

to give credit to Microsoft for retracting the patent application. Your credibility is nil if you bash them for submitting the application (erroneously) and then don't at least acknowledge the retraction. It is stuff like this that drive people away from our good work like Linux, Firefox, etc. It makes us look like zealots.
