  1. Re:ok... on Proposed Telescope Focuses Light Without Mirror Or Lens · · Score: 1

Make a sphere with a central axis. Place the fresnel lens on the surface of the sphere. Rotate the sphere about the center (where the focal point is.) No more formation flying, etc. Since you don't need any part of the sphere but the place where the fresnel lens is, just create a radius - lens at one end, focal point at the other end. Use a track to adjust the focal point distance from the foil. Rotate the entire assembly to re-point. No formation flying. Precision alignment all the time. Slow adjustment means good fuel economy.

    from the article:

For one thing, the light comes to a focus far away from the foil sheet â" with distances measured in kilometres

So how big would that sphere be? A better idea maybe to place the whole setup on a planetary system such as the dark side of the moon or possibly mars or further. Of course it still has to be brought there and setup. This makes it more difficult and I agree with the last part of the article that it's not a matured enough yet.

They're different animals but they're not different when you compare meat to meat (just muscle made up of amino acids).

But as already established cloned animals are also different since they have weaker immune systems and shorter life spans.

Is it an employer's business that his employee has an identical twin?

Yes when it's the twin brother that is doing the work that you want to get paid for.

Being a consumer is very difficult now with all the misdirections presented in labels. Not just for food but almost everything. The elections are right around the corner, do you feel you are getting truth in labels?

So labeling is certainly not only welcomed but badly needed. Truth in labeling is essential for consumer confidence. It is also needed to be able to make a purchase as an informed consumer.

Otherwise why label meat as anything else but meat? I mean what difference does it make if it is cow's meat or lamb's meat or pig's or horse's? Why bother with Kosher cow meat vs non-kosher cow meat?

Although I can see non-cloned meat will be the one that is labeled as such, and will sell for higher, similar to organic foods now.

  4. There is even more water on Enormous Amount of Frozen Water Found on Mars · · Score: 1
This is very exciting as it makes the idea of colonizing Mars sometime in the next 100 or 150 years a little closer. The article mentions even more water:

"There's evidence that about 10 times or maybe even 100 times that much water has flowed across the surface of Mars to carve the various channels, the outflow valleys and other features we see in the images and topography data,"
The Article also does mention that:

The reflected beams revealed that 90 percent or more of the frozen polar material is pure water ice, sprinkled with dust particles.
Does that mean it's usable fresh water? I guess analysis of that ice would be high on the to do list.

First off it's not the DVD's that are the problem, it's the DVD players, and people do buy Open DVD Players.

Second People might not mind losing their freedom because they might not know that they are losing it. It might matter to them if they see the whole picture.

Educating consumers especially now is a must. The choice is theirs to make but it can only be a choice if they know the stakes.

The question can also be do they need to upgrade? For some it might make sense, for others after learning about the constraints involved it might not be an attractive choice.

Another good reason this campaign is good is that it might influence MS to either ease ristrictions on some things, change some other things to allow users certain freedoms.

Overall this is about educating, and the consumers "right to know" that really should've came from MS directly, but since that won't happen.....
