You can replace the crappy one-button stock Apple mouse with any multibutton USB-based mouse.

But, it's just easier and less headaches to run games natively, on the O/S they were developed and tested on. And that O/S ain't OSX, it's Win2k/XP.

Don't get me wrong, the Mac is a nice platform for people who have other things to do, and only use a computer as a tool. It's great - set your grandmother in front of it, and she'll never bother you again. Hey, I really liked the devtools for the Mac - they're the cat's meow.

But for gaming, sorry. It's faster and cheaper to run an AMD rig. I'd rather take that extra money spent on the really kewl looking case, and put it towards a faster GPU and a bigger monitor. And most gamers like to upgrade their video cards without having to upgrade the entire system. There are some things you can't (or aren't supposed to) do with a Mac.

And there are some games you'll never ever see on a console - RTS games tend to require the whole keyboard. Even MMOs like WoW really benefit from hotkeying everything. Yes, I know WoW has a Mac port - let me ask you - have you actually tried to play WoW on a Mac? It's not fun.

Some bits of you resonate to different radio frequencies. Some of those frequencies you mention just go right thru you like you were glass (AM/FM, natural), others like you were a blackbody (infrared) and others in-between (microwaves).

Microwave radiation (wifi, cordless and cell) is particularly nasty, as your brain seems to resonate to it, along with cellular DNA. Enough to cause cognitive and memory deficits. Exposure to it seems to be cumulative.

Here's a paper to read on the subject.

The power level is low, around 20-200mW from your typical wifi transciever. HOWEVER, scientific research suggests that dosage to microwave radiation is cumulative.

Here's a paper that discusses microwave RF radiation in general. I'd pay special attention to the cognitive and memory deficits that showed up in the mice after being bombarded by microwave radiation.

That is, unless you don't care about your brain too much.

Well, here's one scientist's paper on the subject.

To summarize the paper (if you don't want to read the whole thing), microwave RF doses are cumulative and they affect cognition and memory.

And the effect is adverse. Would be nice if you could nuke your brain and get smart. Doesn't work that way.

First, if you're in it to make money or you're looking for job security, go look somewhere else. There's no shortage, and hiring and firing is volatile and "bursty". Be prepared to live beneath your means and go for months without a paycheck. A lot of this work is going overseas, no matter what they're telling you. Speak Hindi or Mandarin? Even if you're one of those who grew up writing assembler when everyone else was talking about what was on TV last night, there are some things I'd suggest you think about. First, most companies these days monitor every single packet that goes out on their network, even if they say they're not. They are, they all are. What do you think about privacy issues? Do you think you're bland enough to avoid getting noticed? And then there's the cube farms - do you like smelling and hearing your coworkers? Do you like conformity, and find herd behavior reassuring? At least with blue collar jobs like truck driving, etc, there's nobody peering over your shoulders and reading every single personal thought you're sending out. Mainly because there's no internet access, but frankly I'd rather have no internet access than have an connection that's being watched by my boss' boss and his lackey. And most of the monitoring they do is all up-front as well. And the industry is maturing too. Not as many opportunities to do things that are truly creative.
