    Why? The DRM difference between HD-DVD and Blu-ray is down to almost nothing. Except for that little difference, Blu-ray wins hands down on everything.

    As far as I've been able to deduce, the DRM difference is this: When you publish content on HD-DVD you _must_ include managed copying. However (and this is the catch!) you're free to charge whatever you want for it.

    With Blu-ray you (the content publisher) deside for yourself whether you want to include managed copy or not.

    In reality I'm quite sure the end customer won't see a difference. If the publisher doesn't want managed copying they'll opt out of it on Blu-ray and make it extremely expensive on HD-DVD.

    (I grabbed these quickly - I believe all of them are reputable studies. The first is double blind, the one about the blood barrier was carried out close to where I work [in the cellphone industry btw])

    No - yet "we" seem to group them, as a whole, into the "potential terrorist" category.

    Maybe we should stop? And while we're at it, maybe we should stop invading countries in the ME, killing their friends and families and lying about the reasons?

    Find a video feed from one of the embassy burnings. Look at the signs the protesters are carrying. Notice that they're all written using the same pens, with the same handwriting.

    Now ask yourself why experts say Syria shipped in protesters (yes, to Lebanon as well) - and that they weren't spontaneous demonstrations at all. link [in Swedish]

    After having done that, you might want to question whether you really should spread false information without checking the facts?

    You can buy pictures depicting Mohammed almost everywhere in the Islamic world.

    The current clash has very little to do with the (very provocative) pictures and a LOT to do with the current world hatred of moslems (grouping them all together as potential terrorists) - actually not that unsimilar to anti semitism in the 30's.

    Religious fanatism is always bad - and the name of the current popular god is of no importance. I always get a kick out of hearing Bush saying "God bless America" after having done a speech about those evil moslems (sorry, terrorists - they all are, right? sigh) and their god Allah ... can someone please tell him it's the same god ... ?

    No, they're quite correct (and yes, I'm a software developer). If the content cannot be reached in ANY WAY without after market modifications - and it cannot - then it's not "in the game".

    If you let me modify your word.exe I promise you I can make it quite naughty.

    Exactly. Modern mobile phones are very capable as application and gaming platforms using Java ME as the API towards third party applications. The operating systems mentioned in the article are in a minority.

    How do you unlock it on a console without further manual modification of the original product requiring other after market modifications? Please elaborate.

    My system might only be 110" - but the difference between ~720*480 DVD and 1280*720 HDTV is huge.

    I'd say the best chance we have to get true AI is to build quantum computers. Constant creation of wavestates and the spontaneus collapse due to gravity will generate a flurry of "thoughts" - and by learning the successful ones will eventuelly be "stored" using neural networks.

    That's one of the theories behind how the human brain works, and it's the "randomness" in it that I feel is sorely lacking from current static neural network thinking.

    Answers to all of the above, with good sources and logical reasoning, are already available from the sites I've linked to. Seriously, do you really think people would consider the "Pear Harbour"-explanation sound if there weren't lots of logical facts behind it?

    (Even though as soon as you mention something along these lines you get "mod bombed" on Slashdot. I've just had 5 posts modded down - even in totally unrelated threads. Who are these kids who think that will make a difference?)

    There were both motive and opportunity (2 days before 9/11 the building's security systems were shut down - never happened before - including calling off the bomb dogs, and special groups went through and did work in the buildings)

    The pancake theory does not explain the perfect collapse of WTC7. No other theory besides controlled demolition do, actually.

    To get pools of molten steel, with temperatures over 1000 degrees a week after, you need to do a lot more than weaken it ;)

    (I'm a Mechanical Engineer, btw. I consider his paper sound - it's the offical explanation that needs more than a few leaps of faith just to explain how the building(s) could fall exactly into their own footprint!)

    Uhm, yes, the whole US administration who had been told about the threat, that there were actual plans to do this (and by whom) and the same administration who held practice scenarios regarding what they should do when it happened.

    Or, is that knowledge under a gag order like everything else that don't fit with the current official 9/11 fantasy being spread in the US?

    "Norm", "normal" etc are words that don't even need to be said. There's no such thing as "normal weather", or "natural weather" - or "unnatural" of course. The Earth has its climate, and that's it.
