Behold the Man by Michael Moorcock might be science fiction and might upset some of the Christians. Some of Moorcock's eternal champion books are short and could be used to discuss balance between order and chaos as opposed to good versus evil.
George R.R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire is long, but I feel is better written than Eddings or Jordan.
