I agree with this. I have an iPhone; and after a day or two, I was flying around on the keyboard. My speed is definitely improved when I don't have to physically push down a key to convey input. The only situation in which I would prefer tactile feedback, is when I'm entering a password. The spellchecker on the phone is very good for the most part, and it's my indicator of what I'm doing right or wrong. However, when I'm typing a password, I lose that luxury and must pay notice to each letter I'm pressing.

The newest release of FlexBuilder (3.0) let's you compile the same codebase down to a .swf or AIR application. This was not the case with version 2 I believe. Adobe is also working on an offering called "Thermo," that will let graphic teams develop skins and UI's in CS3 that will compile down to a Flex application that can be imported into FlexBuilder. I pray that this happens sooner rather than later, because I have had it with our creative team doing all their work in CS3, taking screenshots, and having us implement those in Flex. There are a lot of ideas that graphic designers have that simply amount to putting a square peg in a round hole when slightly different designs or approaches that are native to Flex would take way less man hours.

  3. Re:Yes, they do.... on Consumer Reports: Cingular, Sprint Bad Performers · · Score: 1

I'm from Cincinnati, and the first phone I ever purchased was in 2004 as a mid-level Samsung from Sprint. The coverage was HORRIBLE. The only time I ever got 2 bars was on the highway. The best part was that I only got 1 bar outside of the Sprint store. I tried another phone from them, and it was just as pitiful. Ultimately I had only had the phones for 3-4 days, and I was still under the clause which let me terminate everything with full refund. I immediately went to Verizon, and I didn't leave until I came to India (where I am currently). Verizon didn't use SIM cards; and regardless, are notorious for crippling and refusing to unlock phones. However, the coverage is AMAZING. I could get a call in a mine shaft. All in all I have relatively ZERO geek-esque needs with my phone, so as long as the phonebook is simple, the SMS simple, and my plan less than 60 USD a month, Verizon is the best I've found.

^^^ 40-45 USD per week, sorry. Also, by meal, I don't mean filling your belly to the brim. These are 300-400 kcal meals.

Excuses smell like what body part again? Look, healthy food costs a lot if you are buying stuff specifically labeled as health food. It's not expensive to go to the grocery and buy fruits, vegetables, meats (look for good deals), rice/grains, etc., and make a meal for yourself. I've been very serious about weight training for many years, and you can whip up a meal with baked chicken, pasta/rice, veggies/fruit, and a glass of water in under 10 minutes. I also can eat a diet like this where I have 6 meals a day touching the major food groups for between 40-45 USD in most states.

I work for one of the main players of the Indian IT world, and I'm currently in my 4th month of living here out of 6. I can definitely say confirm two thins about the parent: people are very driven by the entrepreneurial spirit, and they could care less about ads. Ever since the socialist veil was lifted it's been incredibly easy for anyone to get a business up and running. It's actually creating problems of it's own. The tailor I go to says that they have a high turnover rate after they train their tailors because many will go out immediately to start their own shop. A few will steal his business, but he says most fail, fall into alcoholism, play the lottery, and become beggars. Land of Karma. Additionally, you can go down the street and the exact same type and style of shops and stands will just litter a block or two all right next to each other and all seem to do business fine. As far as ads go, a large portion of the cellphone plans here just text you ads all the time. Many times text messaging won't work, but you can sure receive the telco's ads! Rickshaws, and cabs have stickers of movies, clothing brands, telcos, nike swooshes, etc... Even in Western Europe it's hard to tell sometimes who's cricket or soccer team is playing because the jersey's are just living ads. The English cricket team just has Vodafone written largely all over it. The soccer teams never have their name on them. It's a land of consumers here. The rising middle class seems to be buying whatever big companies are trying to sell them. Ever notice those stupid cellphone commercials where people are actually listening to their mp3's on their phones. It's the cool thing to do over here: walk with your group of friends playing music from your cellphone. With all this advertising power that some of the big players are able to push through here, I wouldn't be surprised at seeing any kind of product rolled through here subsidized by advertising.
