Government contract work is INSANE. One of my wife's relatives works in the field (writing up contracts between the US government and other companies), and based on the little I've talked to him about it, it sounds crazy complicated. Statcounter is a pretty awesome site for tracking stats on a website/blog. It's transparent, easy to use, and best of all it's free (unless you want a bigger log.) I know there are a lot of options out there, but if you're looking for a free way to track the statistics on a smallish website of yours, I highly recommend you check them out.

Not a paid endorsement; I'm just a satisfied user of their services.

Having seen both Up and Coraline in 3D and 2D in the theaters, I can say that 3D definitely added to the experience.

It made Up better because of the immense size of some of the set pieces. It helped Coraline because it made it feel like you were looking through a window, rather than looking at a flat surface.

As I said in another post in this thread, if all movies used 3D the way Coraline did, I'd want to see everything in 3D.

  10. Re:Here's to hoping on Has Christopher Nolan Turned the 3D Argument? · · Score: 1

That's precisely my point...it's hard for a movie to truly NEED 3D, and as I said in my OP, I've only come across three such movies. I'd put Coraline at the top of the list, though...basically, it made it look like you were observing what was happening, right where it was happening, rather than looking at a flat screen. The visual depth it added was nothing short of amazing.

If more films utilized 3D the way Coraline did, then I'd want to see EVERYTHING in 3D, even run-of-the-mill comedies (and thus violating one of my own rules.) Still, I hope it stays big enough for movies that can use it right, yet retreats enough that it doesn't show up everywhere.

  11. Here's to hoping on Has Christopher Nolan Turned the 3D Argument? · · Score: 4, Insightful

3D is great, so long as a movie is made from the very beginning with it in mind, isn't used in a gimmicky sort of way, and isn't thrown in "just because".

I've only seen three movies that meet those requirements: Avatar, UP, and Coraline.

Anything I've done that could possibly compromise me professionally or personally has only been done in the presence of others who share the same concern (or by myself.)

I understand where you're coming from, I really do...but it's not nearly as difficult as you make it out to be. So long as you are aware of what you do and where you do it, you'll have no problems.

That being said, it's quite possible to lock your Facebook down tight, to the point where short of figuring out your password or fooling you into thinking they're someone they aren't, no "outsider" would have access to anything you do. You can even make it where they can't even see your profile picture.

Still, if you're the kind of person that has problems with a stalker, what are you doing on a site like Facebook?
