It's just a nice name to some features added in "regular" web.
Wikipedia is in web2.0 instead of what? Britanica ? WOW! that's a big change, a web which allows user to write in it (don't take me wrong, it's a big change, but not one that makes the web other version [2.0]).
also Personal websites are now Blogs..... WOW!!! AmAZIng! certainly other version of the web. DoubleClick had lost to Google Adsense ! I'm amazed, it's an other version for sure!.
And now, to summary it all up, nothing has changed dramatically that we need to call it web 2.0.
We'll need to call it WEB2.0 when the website read our minds or something,
We'll call it WEB3.0 when it will send us food when we think of it [it's a feature of WEB2.0 but it will be called 3.0].
Cause you know those advertisers, they will call their mom grandpa if it will sound right enough, just like they called some features in web (1.0) web 2.0
Once Vista is out and people will be disappointed they will consider 2 solutions :
A. Going back to XP sp 2.
B. Switching to Linux.
I think Linux is the future, and once software companies will release everything in Linux as well (or only to Linux) Linux will make M$ Lose!
In fact, Vista looks like the best thing that is going to happen to Linux since Linus Torvald's had some free time back then at 1991.
GO OPEN SOURCE!
What will actually be Google's part? it already runs on 1 million systems, but lets be honest :
In this case Google is trying to earn the credit by "helping" the project with some money, after it's already a success.
Probably the sponsorship will go to wider support of LinuxBIOS, which is good, but Google will earn 2 much credit for it:]
Therefore Google made an extreamly wise choice (some chain for credit == good deal)
go Google! continue sponsoring OpenSource projects no matter what state they are (even when it's only on an Idea state, nothing more)
Mono-Project looks like it needs more cash, go and help them:]
Good luck!
