As you type on your electronic device that is powered by the oil that the "rednecks" help produce! From the investigation information I've read, it is the educated business people from BP who overruled the rednecks when they highlighted some concerns with the drilling conditions.
A couple of points. First, the Pope cannot condemn someone to Hell, only God can do that. If Galileo was excommunicated wrongly, that doesn't mean he automatically would go to Hell. Second, the Pope can indeed be argued with, although it doesn't appear that this was supposed to be a debate. Papal infallibility only happens during very specific situations.
The United States is not a pure democracy. The political system is summed up nicely in Wikipedia:
"The United States is the world's oldest surviving federation, a representative democracy with a government regulated by a system of checks and balances defined by the United States Constitution. The 1789 constitution replaced the Articles of Confederation, which was in effect from 1781-1789. However, it is "not a simple representative democracy, but a constitutional republic in which majority rule is tempered by minority rights protected by law."[38]"
If everything were ruled by majority, things in the US would be quite different.
You can put the solar cells in Texas we can put all of the refineries in the Northeast somewhere (Maine?) and the chemical plants somewhere in the Midwest......

Way to go for Louisiana yet again...why worry about protecting the state from flooding when you can "protect the kids" and pass bad legislation.
