of course by that time we'll be demanding 360 degree surround sound, surround video with smellovision. ok maybe not the smellovision but we'll think of something to use all that capacity
Firefox 2 may certainly be judged favorably compared to other browsers like IE7. Most people have never tried Firefox and I'd rather have them try v2 than v1.5
On the other hand, v2 compared to v1.5 might not be such a big difference if you already have it.
But who cares? it's free anyway
In Windows there are 15 ways to shut down the PC. In Linux, there may be only a couple of ways to shut it down but over a hundred different versions to choose from before you can begin to use it!
I think this is more of a victory for the mac

You should know that they do intend to compete in the mobile web space. That means they have no choice but to clean everything up without the excuse "oh memory is so cheap anyway.."
is that even if it leads to more efficient and less buggy software, it fails to take usability into account. That is why F/OSS is facing so many problems once you get past servers and dev tools. Users don't want to deal with hundreds of slightly different versions of the same thing like we see in linux distros.
If you want good usability, you need top down unified control.
Now isn't this ironic? All this time Opera changes their user agent to look like IE in order to get in sites that would otherwise block it. now we see Opera used to block everything else on Nintendo.
Now aren't you glad that it is Firefox and not the closed source Opera that is gaining ground on Microsoft?
